KAD36 talked me through some adjustments to my carburator, which seems to have, for all practical intents, eliminated the rest of the hesitation. I love driving this car in spite of the lesser horse power than the other car. I came across a group of Porsches. dibarlaw Posted May 16, 2021 Share Posted May 16, 2021 I finally took the 1937 out for some exercise. Did 50 miles. I did not realize I had put her away on November 11. I had done the AACA (moved to Gettysburg meet) and drove the car the rest of the week. Being busy with the 1925s I must admit I ignored the 37. Only starting and running her for about 30 minutes in December, February and early April. I was going to get her ready for our April 10th tour to Boyertown Museum. That was canceled due to lack of interest. So she sat another month. Interesting fuel price update. The Millers Sunoco on route 30 west of Chambersburg has had only NON-ETHANOL fuel in all grades for several years. When I filled up on 11/11/20. I paid $2.48 for 87 octane. At the time it was only several cents above local convenience store prices. I filled up the 1925 Standard last Sunday at $3.09/gal. Today 87 octane was $3.48/gal. Up a dollar a gallon in 6 months. Buicknutty Posted May 17, 2021 Share Posted May 17, 2021 We took the 56 Roadmaster out for a short drive today, it was such a lovely day for a drive. Unfortunately only about 11 or 12 miles. This is it's first time on the road this year, though it has been running and out around our long driveway. It ran great as usual, hopefully I can put some more miles on it. The pictures are in front of a beautifully restored historic church in a nearby town, well it's not large enough to be a town, more like a hamlet. Took a different road on the way home and saw some homes I had no idea existed. Marty Roth Posted May 21, 2021 Share Posted May 21, 2021 (edited) We are DRIVING the 1937 Roadmaster 80C Phaeton on the AACA FOUNDERS TOUR, based in Davis, West Virginia for the next 5 days- 80 to 160 miles/day in some extremely hilly and winding roads, based out of the Canaan Valley Resort. Here in Australia, I filled the '36 up near home, 60 miles from Sydney for the the equivalent of 97 cents US per litre (91 octane) . Arriving in the northern Sydney suburbs the price shot up to 1.30 a litre. Australia seems to be the only place I know of that the price of petrol lowers the further you get away from the city. Paul White Posted May 22, 2021 Share Posted May 22, 2021 HI all, I took the Buick out yesterday for what was possibly the shortest ever run, 2.5 miles to our local Warnervale Airport for an airshow and car display. Although MUCH smaller than an American airshows it was great to see war birds in the skies near my home. Planes included a Grumman Avenger, P40 Kittyhawk, Australian built Mustang, Wirraway and Boomerang and a couple of T28 Trojans among other things along with a flying display of one of the RAAF's recently acquired F35 Raptors. I had the '36 in the car display but was so excited by the planes I forgot to take a photo of her. We drove nearly 240 miles over 2.5 days; gave our little Buick quite a workout! This is a shot of the entire group of cars at one of the tour stops. We started with 29 cars; there were several that departed early. Our Buick is the smaller of the 2 cars with the dark green bodies, cream wheels and tan top, just left of the center of the picture. My wife is sitting in the rear seat. Buicknutty Posted May 25, 2021 Share Posted May 25, 2021 (edited) It was a lovely day here in Ontario on our holiday Monday so I gave the '41 Roadmaster a nice wash to get all the dust off of it, then took for an afternoon drive gas it up. About 45 miles all together through some lovely farm country. I have had it running but only around in and out of the garage and around a short block this year, so this is the first fill up of the season for it. The mileage indicated is the starting. It was not running bad, drove well but the idle is a bit rough so I need to check it out, maybe just some more driving will help. We drove along with my parents in their 1937 Chevrolet. Photo 1; The town of Southern Cross (important part of our flag). Photo 2; Kalgoorlie "two-up" venue. An old gambling game brought to Australia by convicts in the 1700's. Photo 3; A few hitch-hikers common around here. Photo 4; Lake Ballard has 51 of these statues located around the salt pan. Photo 5; The old Kookynie Tavern, this horse turned up at the front door. Photo 6; Not much intimidates the Electra. These quad trailer Road Trains are 53.5 meters long (175 feet). Photo 7; Kalgoorlie-Boulder sign. Photo 8; Kalgoorlie Super Pit, open cut gold mine. Photo 9; A decent load of diesel heading up to the mines. A great 3 days of driving our Buicks and socializing. MCHinson Posted May 30, 2021 Share Posted May 30, 2021 Today I drove my 1937 Model 80C about 60 miles round trip to an antique car event and WWII era airplanes display at an airport. This is the longest trip for this car so far, in the short time I have owned it. It is running a bit hotter than it should at high speeds, so this evening I drained the coolant and will now see how evaporust works in the system. This photo shows my 1937 Roadmaster Convertible Phaeton beside Ashby Armistead's Custom bodied 1937 Roadmaster. rodneybeauchamp Posted June 2, 2021 Share Posted June 2, 2021 (edited) Had a nice Wednesday breakfast with our small group in small town of Port Elliot, overlooking the small Horseshoe Bay. Two Porsche, a Triumph TR8, Mazda MX5 and my Buick Riviera. Managed to meet up at the rail crossing with the “Cockle Train” running historic suburban “Red Hen” diesel powered rail cars from the SteamRanger Preservation Group. Group runs a variety of vintage steam and diesel trains and carriages, all on broad gauge track 5’3” which was the standard gauge in South Australia. Lead rail car is a 300 series, driver cab one end only, so always ran in pairs. Centre car is a baggage car and last unit is a 400 series rail car, drivers cab each end. Paint scheme of Regal Red with silver roof is when they were first put into service. These rail cars and coaches were made in our own Islington Railway Workshops back in the days when we use to make things here 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Nice run! We had 3 1937 Buicks in attendance today, including my Model 80C, Larry Howard's Model 61, and Jack Price's Model 46. More like mini-shakedown cruises before my trip down Route 66 later this month.
