Other than adding a good stereo and tape player, replacing the catalytic converter and a stretched throttle cable in the first 2,000 miles, it was a pretty good little 5-door hatchback with a serious sunroof. I totalled it when it hydroplaned on an elevated section of I-10, making it 3 feet shorter front and back than its already diminutive size before it had a chance to rust away. I would guess that you have seen very few Fiat's up north in the salt belt.

As I recall, they were already rusting on the dock at the Port of Entry- Driving actually reduced the potential for rust on the undercarriage, due to the many potential and actual leaks coating many surfaces. Of course they are great fun to drive- the "Poor Man's" Ferrari ! The name "FIAT" is actually an acronym, "Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino" but many figured it really meant "Fix It Again, Tony"

SC38dls
There was a recent news story about a guy that was hooked on brake fluid. He said he has been using it on a regular almost daily basis. The news reporter asked why he kept using it. His response: He just couldn’t stop!

The body is far too rough to save, but will make decent yard art for a while as I scavenge remaining little bits off of it. It is in three easy to carry sections right now.

I swear this is something my adopted son would do. Swears I destroyed his mini bike engine , that wasn't running, when i pulled the spark plug, cleaned off the carbon and sprayed it off with some carb cleaner. No mention that it wasn't running because he decided to pour a quart of 2 cycle oil in the 1 gallon gas tank and it's a 4 stroke to begin with, then stripped the float bowl bolt out on the carb, along with who knows what else he did working on it to try to get it running before I started to look at it. You probably do not need to ask me how I know. Edited April 25, 2022 by Larry Schramm (see edit history) 1
Leif in Calif
In Hershey Corral, a mechanical engineer, an electrical engineer and a software engineer get into a 53 Ford for sale. The car doesn't start and the mechanical engineer says "we need to adjust the choke" The electrical engineer says "We need to check the timing" The software engineer says "We need to get out and then get back in again." 2
