  1. I remember when they used to say "I bet Bill Harrah would buy that".
  2. Still for sale which I find interesting since it seems like a pretty fair deal! https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/d/el-sobrante-1940-cadillac-lasalle-sedan/7739221980.html
  3. Here's the site you want to become familiar with: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/
  4. "It has the look of a car that had some restoration done in the early days of the hobby" I had a book on restoration I bought in the 70's that said something like "if there is a problem with upper sheet metal, just remove it and make a fair weather tourer" Restoration clearly had a different meaning to many people in those days.
  5. What a beauty! I love the color! I imagine the driving experience would be very nice. I know the parked in front of your house experience would be!
  6. 7. More explanation needed but I assume they just can't find the title. An additional hassle for sure, but not unsolvable. Two dead cylinders? A compression test would tell you a lot. Depending on how badly they want to sell, it could be an opportunity, but it would have to be pretty darn cheap!
  8. Really nice! If you are looking for a pre-war 4 cylinder, the PB Plymouth is the top of the heap! It has features the Model A crowd pays big money to add to their engines: Counterweighted crank and pressure oiling. Plus, being a ’32 Chrysler product, it has “floating power” (the smoothness of a 6 with the economy of a 4) and hydraulic brakes!
  9. I'll let "them what know" comment on correctness and price, but it's certainly a desirable car. (more pics in ad) https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/d/perris-1941-cadillac-convertible/7736505296.html Nice older restoration that was done over 30 years ago Leather interior Excellent chrome and top Automatic transmission Engine sounds good and runs well California titled email; 8c8c3be777e238bd8ff93095b480a43b@sale.craigslist.org
  10. You have to wonder how this car came to be at a motorhome dealer...(more pics in ad) https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/ctd/d/garden-grove-1940-oldsmobile-series-90/7736579165.html VERY CLEAN CLASSIC BOMB READY FOR THE CAR SHOW NIGHT RUNS AND DRIVES AS IT SHOULD 1940 OLDSMOBILE SERIES 90 SEDAN ** FLAT HEAD 8 CYLINDER ** MANUAL 3 ON THE TREE TRANSMISSION $15,995.00 PLUS TAX & LIC FEES OR TRADE MOTORHOMES OF CALIFORNIA 1415 N HARBOR BLVD SANTA ANA CA 92703 714-435-0071
  11. Given the miss miss-match in price between the title and the text, they might be open to offers. (they sure should be!) https://losangeles.craigslist.org/ant/cto/d/palmdale-1935-plymouth-delux-touring/7736698538.html 35 Plymouth four door touring with suicide doors. I have been storing this car for 50 years. Solid rust free California car. I purchased it from a man who lived in Burbank and had just moved up here to the Antelope Valley. He said he had been driving the car until a rod bearing started knocking, he then went to a junk yard and pulled out a six cylinder engine from a wrecked 50s Plymouth. He replaced the engine in the car but never finished hooking it up. I have the original engine, also the grill is in great condition, it has been stored on the back seat of the car for 50 years, the body is solid rust free and I have all the original SS trim and an extra set of hub caps. Also NOS head lite and tail lite lenses and some other parts original owners manual and a lot of original advertising. I have collected some parts for the car at swap meets but have not touched the car in the 50 years that I have owned it. Some years after I purchased the car I got a pair of original duel trumpet horns for the car new chrome and professionally restored by a guy who specialized in vintage horns. Paid more for the horns than I did for the car but this is a very hard to find factory accessory. Solid rust free car 100% complete, I have clean pink slip in my name. $7500 Cash and carry only. 12. This just in..... Latest News Update First data on South Bay’s new turbo roundabout are in — with surprising results. Is it really safer? A new turbo roundabout is seeing triple the rate of accidents then the year before it was constructed, but experts say decreasing rates of injury prove that the new intersection is safer.
  13. That's very interesting about the price in "today's dollars". I've always found those conversions hard to put in context because so much has changed in our modern world. The 490 was a few dollars cheaper than the Ford T, which is in itself interesting given Henry Ford's relentless push to lower costs and the OHV engine of the Chevy, which must have cost more to produce. I was wondering what a truly "basic" car would cost today, so I asked Google and came up with this one, available in India for about $5K: (Maruti Suzuki Alto 800) I suppose modern manufacturing methods have driven the costs down to a third of what they were in 1920.
