A text message while out sorting a car….and another car adventure begins….

David Dunbar Buick started the marque in 1899, so Dunbar (that would get discussion going) might work, or Davey! Not a fan of turd or corky as they have no relationship to the car. Still like Cooper or Couper! Perhaps Phil's mate might like Connie (short for convertible).

Was it still firm? Amazing it ran with all that trash in there, so did my Nash... just poorly!

My cork float had regressed to the constancy of a gas soaked sponge that would pee when you squeezed it.

Ed & Phil, you should make this a contest!  The winner gets to buy you a bottle of CR!  Then if you change the name every week (or maybe every day) announcing a new winner you could be set with you CR for quite a while!

I would ask Phil’s wife to name the car!

I already know the answer………..she would want to call it “Sold”!

I have seen worse. Not sure I have ever driven worse?

I did see a 1930ish Chevrolet driven without a carburetor once! They crimped off the end of the fuel line, and aimed it into the updraft intake manifold! No throttle, no choke, no speed adjustment. They tweaked the crimped end to a high idle, and chugged along at about 20 mph in high gear.

Sounds like and early version of the 'No Carb Diet'.

Sorry it’s been so quiet here on the 34 Buick thread. Lots of family problems, and work has been crazy. We have been working on the car on and off……….more to come.

A few weeks ago, on top of a bunch of other stuff, by dog became quite sick overnight. Turns out it was cancer……and I lost another dog in less than a year……it was a bummer. We buried her at the farm up north last week. She only had three decent days back on the property before we had to put her down. It was simply a lousy day.

Her name was Tattie……Scottish for potato.

And some Buick updates as well. This car keeps kicking our ass…….but we keep pushing back and making progress…….the main water jacket failed…….it has a few pin holes. Evapo Rust finished it off. Got all the bolts out without any major issues…….here is what we found……….very ugly. Interesting the car didn’t overheat. Even in 95 degree Florida weather. Held steady at 140 all the time………..go figure. New water jacket cover is installed already. More new problems to follow………

Sure can tell how much loved her. Lived with dogs all my life. Wish they all lived longer.

Ed,  we had Schnauzers in the house when our daughter was growing up.  They were wonderful little beings and Mary loved them dearly.  Then Miss Muggins, our Coal Black Scottie came to live with us.  She is without any doubts the smartest pup that we have ever been around.  We know exactly what you are feeling and going through.  It just tears your heart out when something happens to one of God's precious creatures.  We could write a book about her antics in our home.  Glad to hear that you will be having another one come live with you.

Ed,

Sorry to hear about Tattie. That just sucks! I’m glad you found a new addition to your family. As you know, I’ve been a Kat person all my life and always had one on the boat with me. After the accident, I promised my wife we would stay on land and she could have a dog. I never could see the deal with dogs. They eat till they puke , then eat that! They crap all over the lawn and have to be walked every day at least twice! A cat craps in the toilet, eats what it feels necessary and leaves the rest till later and walks itself! Once my wife “got” (for $500 freak’n dollars) Malakie, a half black lab and half German Shepard, I kinda figured out what the fuss is all about.

I’m so sorry you lost a friend but am happy you gained another!

As for the Buick kick’n you in the ass…I have a 1930 LaSalle that has conspired to annoy me for three years. I was at the point of actually putting it out on the side of the road with the title signed and a sign    “Free! Just get this piece of crap out of here!”

Turns out an AACA member took my carb and distributer and readjusted them to work properly and the car has again become my best friend.

It’s the help and support from the members here that make my retirement years enjoyable!

Im sure that if you and Phil keep plugging at the Buick it’ll all come together to be a fun addition for both of you!

He DOES look like you, Ed.....   🙂

George……he partially reminds me of you, as he is not housebroken……….and he has very few social skills. Maybe we should call him George? 🤔  I guess Makers Mark would also work……

He’s Scottish……not Irish. Although he may like drinking whiskey as much as I do………🤔

He’s a good boy…….and I wouldn’t trade him for a 66 HP Pierce.

Isn’t a Scot just a Irishman wearing a skirt?

Just don’t do what I did back in my Army days…. Ask a British Warrant Officer from the Scottish Highland Regiments if he were Welsh.  I learned a plethora of new Scottish curse words that day.

Hi, Ed!  My condolences on your fine pooch...  One quick question on the Buick.  Were the photos above taken before or after the Evaporust treatment?  Thanks!  Greg
