Repainting the inlays is the easiest thing in the world and one of the quickest ways to give your car a sharper look.  Just get some black paint (I used Rustoleum semi-gloss), apply a generous coat in the recess, and wipe off the excess with a clean rag and you're done.  If you don't get all the excess, you can just wait until it dries and carefully get it with paint thinner.  Trust me, you can do this -- you don't need a steady hand!

Great idea! I'll give it a try this coming spring!

  • 37 Opera Coupe. Been about a 5 year project. Finally up and running. Just now working out all the bugs. Got about 300 miles on it. Tuning the carbs and timing and linkage tweaking. The brakes are about right, finally. All the electrical has been redone. Split the 6 & 12 voltages so to keep all the gauges correct. All the lights are 12v. Soon to be the starter and ignition 12v also. A purist would cringe but this will be for driving and maybe a little rallying so I'm OK with upgrades. Say what you want but heated and cooled Lexus seats rock. And NO I haven't drilled many extra holes... none if I could help it.

Looks like we won't be driving the 1917 Buick until May or June

Don't relent Morgan, we are also battling an attentive winter, closing in on record breaking snowfall in MN so far this winter, but I am not going to let it stop me from teaching our son how to drive our 32 Buick with his learners permit, every hour driving in any vehicle counts towards obtaining his license regs.

Winter lasts from Oct-May, and around now the DOT has stopped dropping salt for sand for environmental reasons, so each sun-warmish snowfall is getting closer to a license to drive.

Back roads and bias ply tires are really interesting on snow and ice, and an exciting experience for the young, life is short...try not to drift into the driveway too much...

My job as dad is to ensure the car is sorted...really durably sorted....and to be patient with the next generation...

Happy sledding, snow blowing, plowing, lamenting, avoiding slips trips and falls,

Mario

14 more inches last night. At least this time I didn't plow the snow pile in front of the garage door.

Did you have an explosion in a foam factory? We don't get that stuff here in South Australia. Plus it's early Autumn (Fall) here with a very warm 86F here tomorrow.

I first posted a photo of my then newly acquired '25 Buick Standard Six Four Passenger Coupe in 2017. Figured it's time for an update. US built Buicks at the time didn't come supplied with bumpers. I was lucky enough to find a complete front unit on Ebay. It was easily recognizable by the Buick Standard only front brackets. A year or so later I found a set of rear bumperettes that were a close match. Brackets had to be fabricated, using a few pieces of original ones as patterns.

The door handles that came on the car were incorrect "T" handles. Again on Ebay, I sourced a correct pair of stirrup handles.

The front passenger seat was missing, A friend gave me a jump seat from a seven passenger touring car, which was modified to exactly duplicate the missing one.

Front turn signals were added, using a second pair of cowl lamps mounted to the bumper with custom brackets. Rear turn signals look much like the single tail light.

Details. Details. Pictures attached.

The car. Located in Seneca State Park in Maryland, about 15 miles outside Washington DC. I’m organizing a raid party among local Buick guys. It’s on very public land so stealth is the order of the day!

So a buddy and I managed a successful raid on the ‘41. We got the intake, oil filter canister, side cover and a few brass fittings. Everything came off easier than expected and we went undetected. Huffed and puffed carrying it out, that sucker is heavy. Appears to be intact but haven’t looked closely yet. Please don’t alert the authorities….

Participated in the Stone Gables tour organized by Nick Sieber today.

Not as hot as anticipated and the thunder showers held off. Very good venue for the prewar vehicles. Many Model A and T Fords. There were 3 Buicks; a 1910 Model F,

My 1925 Standard and Nick's 1940 model 41. Hopefully someone got a photo of it.

Great to see these early Buicks on display at today's AACA Grand National show in Bettendorf, Iowa.  A beautiful sunny day where these cars shined.  Can only wish they were my Buicks.
