Post a picture of a Pink car from the old days..

I worked at a Ford Dealership in the 1970's and early,80's.  A "brainy" general manager; had a white Escort painted Pink.  Yea, I know he didn't really ruin a Good car.

And it wasn't just a pale pink,  like the above T-Bird, which sort of fits the T-bird.  Well, it is early that I am typing; maybe I am asleep.  It was more like the Volkswagen above.

Oh that General Manager was stubborn too. After a few months on the lot, the higher ups, "said take that darn Pink thing to the auction". But the Used car manager was embarrassed to take it out in the automotive public.

So more months went by; and finally the Body Shop got the order, to make it White again.

When I get home from work, I'll post some photos of cars that are 'Mountain Laurel', 'Tropical Rose', 'Calypso Coral', 'Flamingo', 'Dubonnet', 'Island Coral', 'Rosebud', 'Scottish Heather', and other imaginative names for PINK.

Here is a picture from the internet of a 1975 Cadillac

Coupe de Ville.  Its paint is a non-standard color for 1975,

mountain laurel, said to be specially ordered.

The car is listed for sale on www.cars-on-line.com,

but it has been there for several years.  I suppose no one

ever removed the ad:

I`m not into cosmetics, but Mary Kay gives top sales rep a pink Cadillac.

The tops sales reps never actually 'own' the pink cars.  They all belong to the cosmetic company, and get turned back to them after a few years.  Before they are either sold or traded in for new Cadillacs, they are repainted white, or some other standard Cadillac paint color.  The same was true with the fleet of 1969 Rocky Mountain Life Insurance Cougars that were painted purple which I mentioned here:

They were repainted different 1969 FoMoCo colors before being resold to the public.

This is another SO car. Special order cars have a SO tag next attached next to the data tag. This particular car was Harly Earl's wife's car, a 1959 Pontiac Catalina with Bonneville / Star Chief rear taillights and a Bonneville interior. She probably wanted a Catalina because they were 7" shorter (all in the trunk) than Star Chief and Bonneville and probably easier to maneuver and park. Note; 1959 Bonneville and Star Chief would not fit in many garages of even relatively new homes of the 50's.

My SO Catalina just fit (with the garage door closed) my parents garage, a Bonneville would have never made it.

1972 Playboy Playmate of the Year, Liv Lindeland won this 1972 Pantera.  Originally White when purchased by Playboy Enterprises, it was resprayed "Playmate Pink".   The car still exists today but has been so heavily modified as to be completely unrecognizable as the same car.

I suspect Liv Lindeland, if she still exists today, has also been so heavily modified as to be completely unrecognizable as the same model.

My friend had a pink 58 Buick in high school, and there were a few Ford products painted pink and black around town, an occasional pink Caddy, Lincoln, and Nash's, but the .....uh..... most extreme ( ? ) pink cars to me were 2 new Mercury Cougars in a showroom in Knoxville, TN. in 67, and the pic of a local ladies car here in town.  I painted a model car ( shown here, and my 1st car model ) of a 58 Buick the same color as my high school friends real 58, but I painted this model in 58, and Randy didn't get his real 58 until 65 or so.

Matt, you know I'm a Corvette guy and a little celeb connection is always fun.

After reading Scott's link above I can say I'd gladly own, and drive, anyone of those Playboy cars in their pink livery (well except for the

1970 Capri)

but damn, that giant mural of Marilyn on the hood of that Corvette is just a deal breaker for me. 😄

It's not Marilyn Monroe, it's Donna Mae Mims own face. Yes, she painted her own face on her car.

My father bought a used 1959 Canadian Dodge Mayfair 4dr sedan (Plymouth bodied with Dodge front clip) with a White Wine (pale pink) body and Iroquois Red roof. Never saw another like it and could always find it in a parking lot. Wish I had a picture to   share as it was unique.

I remember that issue of that magazine very well. I graduated from high school in 1972. Wow.

I believe I also remember a 1968 AMX in 'Playboy Pink':   Playmate of the Year AMX returns to its original pink | Hemmings Motor News
