It has foil backed fiber insulation behind it as well. http://www.oldbuickparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=7303

NC1968Riviera
I just picked up this 1966-dated Kodachrome slide of a 1964 Riviera parked in a carport with the proud owners flanking it. Could the color be Desert Beige? Edited December 31, 2019 by NC1968Riviera (see edit history)
kegart
I had to repaint my motor after changing the water pump. The motor was green so I figured it was time to go back to silver. If I do this again I think it would be easier to pull the motor

Hazdaz
It was over 70° today! (for reference its usually in the 30s this time of year) Couldn't pass that up, so unwrapped the Riv and let the girlfriend take some beauty shots. She's a way better photographer than I am.
anestech*
Hazdaz, are you running the halos with your parking lights are on a separate switch? I found some good LEDs and put them in our parking lamps, and will do halos with a whole new wiring harness soon. I think I want them on the parking light switch, but not sure. Hazdaz
Totally separate switch right now. Come spring time I want to wire it in with a relay so they turn off when the ignition is off so I don't forget them on which is something I've done too many times. 60FlatTop
There have been times I though about finding one of those Merc's and buying it. There is a lot of similarity in the restyle of the Riviera. Yep, I'd buy the Merc.
PWB
Ditto. On my bucket list. ‘70 is the best year. Try finding one with a floor console in good shape. Seems more rare than the Rivs. And a ‘64 Impala was my first car. Red on black. Edited January 17, 2020 by PWB (see edit history)

RivNut
Not mine but I'm curious as to how many of you have seen a 1971/1972 boat tail with this vinyl roof extension. It was sold by Acme Auto Headling, San Diego. It came as a kit with the pre-cut matching vinyl and all of the hardware for mounting.

I don’t mean to hijack the “Post some pics of your Rivieras” thread, but I thought I would add a bit of information to your post. Sorry but I have never seen one, just a few pictures of it. It was designed by George Barris, and promoted by the Buick Motor Division of General Motors. See below … I have a copy of the order form and installation instructions also. They were ordered through the Acme Landau Top Company in Long Beach, CA, the cost was $14.95 for the complete kit, and the Suggested List price was $29.95, in 1972. In the late 80's I was drop shipping vinyl tops and headliners from Acme under the auspices of E&L Enterpruses (Ed and Linda) and this boattail accessory was part of their catalog/order form. At that time, I did not know that it was a Barris design nor did I know that Buick was promoting it. Thanks for the added info. Hey Rivnut, according to our new forum rules, these kind of non-stock aftermarket add-ons aren't allowed to be posted on this site any longer. You are in violation of those rules, my friend. (of course I personally don't care, but it just goes to show how ridiculous those rules are)
