leomara
If I'm getting befuddled here please excuse my behavior. The 4th to the 7th is a Tuesday thru Friday. What happened to Saturday? Has something regarding the dates changed?
John_S_in_Penna
Nothing is happening on Saturday this year. The actual car show is moved back to Friday. I understand that the owners of the property (Herco) wanted to use it on Saturday, so everything was moved backward one day. I believe it will be this way in future years, too. The club volunteers, and the office personnel we employ, do a great job with that national meet. It should be just as good as ever.
Gary56
I hope to make it to the show with car on Wednesday thru Friday. I do not have ID number or pin number. I thought I joined the aaca club back in July but now I find I join gpca club. Please advise me how I should register my car. GR56

Gary, it is too late to register your car for the 2022 Hershey show. The deadline was August 15; then--never done before--it was extended a week to August 22. The deadline has passed, because a lot of work has to be done to prepare for the big event. The car show itself is Friday only; the flea market and car corral run the entire length of the event, but in past years the flea market was very sparse on show day. So plan on Wednesday- Thursday for the flea market, Friday for the show, and any of those days for the car corral. Bring your antique car in 2023. People will want to see your car, and you'll be making the show one car better! What information are you awaiting? The national office is efficient, so unless you requested meet or tour information before it's available, you can expect a prompt response! Call the national office in Hershey, Penna. if you are wondering.

Ted, you're right that one has to be a member of the AACA before he can register for a national meet or national tour. Note, though, that people aren't classified as "active" or "inactive" members. Pay your dues, and you're a member! Gary, any national AACA event (meet or tour) is widely publicized in the national magazine to every member. There is an insert in the magazine listing coming events, and a member has to send in the card to request information and a registration form. Information is also available on the AACA internet site. Peter J.Heizmann
Gary...have you contacted Steve Moskowitz? Reference a previous reply from Steve to you to call him at AACA Headquarters wherein he advised you contact him? Also, in order to receive the Antique Automobile magazine you must be a member thus you would not have known about sending in a registration request.

Walt G
Note what Steve just let us know about on Monday morning ! Again the AACA administration, Hershey Region etc are on top of all of this. Give the mail a week to get the stickers to you before you get angry or worried, once they leave the Hershey Region it is in the hands of the USPS ! They can be magnificent or a bit sloooooow. Remember to thank any and all AACA types who are working to make the 2022 Hershey World Class car show and flea market the best on earth that there is. It doesn't happen by a miracle.

One only has one "go around " in life , some of us have have been fortunate enough to get a restart physically in life when that is interrupted. New to Hershey or an Old Timer noting the lamp post number is a quick way to find yourself back to a spot. Buying the part NOW, is far better than leaving in hopes of a better price later, most times it is gone on the return trip.

DrumBob
I will be in Gettysburg from October 3-5. I would love to go to this event. It's only fifty miles from Gettysburg. I think it's do-able. I presume there are people there selling cars?

I'm not sure of the count, but there will be many hundreds of cars for sale. They will be for sale both by dealers and by private owners. Some will be reasonably priced; some will be just as overpriced as cars you see in ads. It's the best "car corral" that I know of. There are also cars for sale scattered around the flea market in vendors' spaces. You might want to go the first day of the car corral, for any cars that are realistically priced. Then later in the event as some overpriced cars will have their prices lowered. Regrettably, some cars remain overpriced and go home without being sold. But it's a good opportunity at least for first-hand shopping! Edited September 3, 2022 by John_S_in_Penna (see edit history)

I saw an early car change hands, after deal was made the buyer’s assistant opened a briefcase full of hundreds to close the deal. The easiest transaction I’ve had when selling a car at Hershey, guy had an assistant, he got on his phone and in 15 minutes had funds in my bank account, verified. Checks just don’t work at Hershey, unless it’s signed by a well known name, and even then some people want cash or no deal.

TerryB
When I was a small time parts vendor it was cash and maybe a few checks. Buyers knew cask talked best. I always carried cash when I was flea market shopping. I hear today most younger people don’t carry cash at all, just the transfers you mention. For me trying to navigate that would be a nightmare. First off, I would have to get a real smart phone, the phone I have now isn’t very smart!

I have a sliding scale of parts prices, if your cellphone conversation is your main interest, and asking for the price on something I have, is a conversation interruption, the price will be a lot more than the price given to a cell less customer. Rude behavior has its price.

Was parking cars at our church on Thursday night for the football game at the University that is next door. Church makes extra money for letting cars park there at $30 a car. Young guy pulls up in a loud Camaro and says to me "Zell", "Zell" I looked at him thinking he was from another country and did not speak English for gosh sakes. I waved him on to the next person taking the money. I sure would have understood what he was saying if he had said "Do you take Zell"? I had no idea what he was talking about. Then yesterday I saw an ad on TV for Zell and now know what it is. I'm getting Old!
