Paying it Forward

Don't feel bad Matt.  I offered all those 37 Buick parts and no takers.  I even produced a very good nose molding with badge for a guy needing one and he never responded.  I didn't say it was free as crating for shipping would be a pain in the Butt, but hey if he walked up it would be his.  I guess even though he had been looking for a year and  another member said grab it as it was the best they had ever seen he didn't really need it. 😞  Still tripping over it on the office floor.  Time to head back o the loft I guess.

I have a Gran Sport plate for the glove box door on a 1965 Buick Riviera.  The two studs are broken off, and it could use a cleaning.  If anyone is interested, I'll pay it forward for shipping cost.

This is still available if anyone wants if mail cost!  🙂

3 (three) 16” 1939 Buick Special wheels

They are rough, but they aren’t beyond repair by any means.  I used them during my restoration when moving the car around.  2 tires are 245’s off a 2003 Silverado and the other is an old, old, old, old Firestone.  They hold air for a few days at a time.

Free pickup at my place in Central Kentucky.

Awesome thread, Mr. Earl! I have a storage room full of Model A and V8 Ford parts that I'm not using and trying to turn them into money is just going to take too much time. If you come to my shop, I will give you any two parts of your choice, up to and including a complete flathead V8 engine (I have two long blocks and I'm going to keep the one that you don't take). I'm not going to try to identify everything or ship it, but if you want some parts that probably have value, come and look and you're welcome to take any two things you want. Most of the small parts are 1935 Ford, but big stuff has wider applications. I believe the exhaust manifolds are Chrysler 340 but might be small block Chevy, I don't remember anymore.

That's the deal. I'm not boxing and shipping anything, but it's free if you can come get it.

You can also hang out and look at cars all day if you'd like.

Here's just some of the stuff:

Wow, I almost forgot about this thread. I gave pretty much all that stuff to one guy because he was the only one to show up with a truck and ask for it. I kept the two V8 engines and the stainless gas tank, but I probably gave away 4000 pounds of parts--his truck was FULL. Glad they went to a new home with someone who will be able to benefit from them more than I could.

Hi, I'm a Dodge Brothers guy, but I came across this Buick axle for free and couldn't pass it up.  Anybody out there need any/all of it?  Not sure of the year, probably mid 20's.  Seems like it was for 21" wheels.  It was some sort of trailer or cart and the spindles are brazed to the axle, but should be able to heat and melt the braze away if you want.  Or you could just display it like I will until somebody wants it.

Bearings are all there and in great shape.  No brake parts except the backing plates.  Springs are in good shape.

I'm in Massachusetts, feel free to message or email me.

Moose

I might be mistaken, but wasn't this thread posted at the top of the "Buick for Sale" forum? Just read a thread on the General Discussion Forum that suggested starting this under General Discussion. I have a couple of parts that I want to list and I wanted to post it in here.

Auburnseeker,  if I was within a reasonable distance to you I would have taken it from you.

Has the demand for parts for a certain range of years dried up?  Not much in Canada.

Some stuff is just so hard to ship.  Heavy or bulky and light.   I shipped a couple of 37 Buick nose trims from Regina Sask Canada to Pacoima California for straightening and polishing.  The box was a flat screen tv box cut down to 48X19X9 inches.  I used some of the Styrofoam to maintain the boxes strength and integrity. It worked well.   It only weighed about 10 lbs.  But was pricey.

ps.  Is the 37 and 38 nose trims the same?

I just got out of the parts business.  Too much left over stuff that wasn't rare and cherry once I picked the lots over, which in many cases had been picked over atleast once before I got them.

I'm not sure if 37 and 38 are interchangable.

The shipping was the whole reason I got out of parts.  All that big awkward stuff was a pain to ship and usually the shipping ate up most of the value of the part.  Once I spent a 1/2 hour boxing it up, it just wasn't worrh selling that type of stuff anymore, and that was with stocking several different box sizes and tubes.

My new business only requires about 5 different box sizes and usually that takes very little time to box everything up.

The parts are still here if anyone wants them.  Though I did dig out a pair of headlights and a trunk ornament assembly that I sold at our garage sale for someone's rat rod project.

I agree that this page should again be pinned at the top of the Buick Buy/Sell forum.  As others have said, it's a bit hard to find now.

I have three random items to offer to anyone who wants to pay the shipping from 94114.

First, a '41 Steering wheel that someone might want to have recast.  It is in good shape but for one cracked spoke.

Old_wheel3.thumb.jpg.a1dffc8272f8a66bfb92e0ef37765830.jpg

Old_wheel1.thumb.jpg.40c7eac75921a71748f06d2554f0b072.jpg

Next up, a '41 reproduction speedo face with the chrome/painted inner rim (not sure what to call this) included.  The inner rim was repainted by me in an attempt to match the original colors (it is brown up to 50 mph when it turns RED to alert you to excessive speed!).  I was going to use it when restoring my speedo, but at the last minute I found an NOS part online.  It looks pretty good, but not perfect.

speedo_face2.thumb.jpg.dc41542be273f13a7cfc246cdbcce955.jpg

Finally, a new gas pedal that I got from Bob's Automobilia.  It was sold to fit my '41, but it did not fit.  The angle of the bottom hinge is much greater than the '41 (i.e., it is canted more sharply to the right when installed).  I think it fits a '39, but I'm not sure.  Bob's would not take it back and give me a credit for the purchase price because they insisted that it could be "bent" to fit!  (What a joke -- but that's a story for another day.)  Anyhow, I would be happy to try to take some measurements if anyone is interested.

gas_pedal5.thumb.jpg.cc8d0c62e27ac1ed87b4d1d9ae752acd.jpg

So anyone interested in any of these items should just shoot me a PM.

Happy motoring,

Neil

'63 Wildcat hubcap - Just to keep it spinning and shining:

If you need 1963 Wildcat hubcap, this one has bold and clear medallion that can be swapped out.  Otherwise, slight imperfection in metal can be resolved with patience. Needs flat black paint touch up. Need cap or just filling out a cap collection, let's skip the hunt. Pay the routine shipping costs - agreed upon in advance. If you are in the Mid-Atlantic region, I'll drop it off or meet someplace.

I am cleaning out the garage and letting go of some items that are not right for my car, but may be used by someone else. I have a horn button that is in really good shape. It appears to be correct for 1941, 1942 and some other years. Part number on the back is 1319406. It does has a few scratches near the opening on the back for the horn ring.

Free to a good home and you pay shipping.

Thanks, Mike

Still cleaning out the garage. I have a steering wheel, horn ring and button. I believe this is from an early 50's Buick. There is pitting on the horn button and the steering wheel is not perfect, but usable. I no one wants this, I will use it for garage art. Free to a good home if you pay the shipping.

Thanks,                                                                                                   GONE TO A NEW HOME!

Also have the cowl to hood seal which fits a 1940 model 40 or 60. This is part # HS-40, made of rubber six feet long. I purchased this part five years ago, but it has always been in a temperature controlled environment. Free to a good home if you will pay the shipping from Asheville, NC 28803. Package has been opened, but never removed.

Thanks,

Mike

I have six envelopes with a Diamond Tire promotion inside from a garage in NY, four are still sealed, uncirculated, from the appearance of the roadster pictured I'd say early 1920's.  Free to a good Buick home, send me a message with your postal address.

Merry Christmas, Gary

I love this thread man. I miss the days of paying for the car behind you's coffee order at starbucks, holding the door open for strangers just because, and the little things we used to do normally to be kind to one another. Seems like more of a distant memory in today's climate.

I have really enjoyed being a newer member of AACA because I realized this is a collection of like minded men and women who enjoy car culture same as me and are just great humans to congregate with. Thumbs up guys.

I have some additional '41 items that I will happy to pass along to anyone who needs them.  Three dashboard switch knobs (lights, defroster, and map light), and a rear passenger cigar lighter (fits in back of front seat in Super and Roadmaster -- not sure about Special or Century).

Also @Peter Gariepy, I'm not sure why you unpinned this topic, but I think it helps people to find the right place to pass along free stuff if it's pinned.  Just my $0.02.
