Nice to have you safely back Doug. Hope you had a great holiday away.

Progressing along with my luggage trunk this afternoon. Had 2 attempts at making the top it can be tricky getting all the measurements correct on the rolls and then have them line up square on the edges. My first fail at the lid here.

Second attempt went a little better.

Just one end to weld up now and the fit the piano hinge. Thank god cold rolled sheet it reasonably cheap.

Hahahaha Will always have a go at anything Ron. I do have a big scrap bin that is always full. 😉
Now this is coming from a man that carved out a Senior radiator badge from a block of brass and it looked like an original.

Got it painted today and I’ll hopefully fit it up tomorrow but we have 3 grandkids staying tonight so that may not happen.

Recovered from having the grandkids all weekend and got my trunk finished this morning.
It’s a bit fancy , someone will steal the trunk and leave the car behind 😂

WTF!!!!!!!!!

This happened this morning but it’s taken a good 10 hours for the tears to clear from my eyes so I could see the text on my phone.
My wife and I were Heading out of our street this morning and  I was rear ended by a lady paying zero attention to everything around her. To say I was gutted was an under statement. To have this happen to me twice just sucks. We are ok although judes back is a little sore from the shunt.
It’s all fixable but when you’ve just spent so much time on these old girls as only us guys know it’s devastating.
Everything on the back of this car is hand built and now I have to do it again. 😭🤨A592DA96-774C-4744-A970-E3EE650FD8D4.jpeg.ceba27a8b9ca61e0fe5b1d10649d6daf.jpeg

There is a slight ripple in the top of the body I’m going to have to try and pull out hopefully.

Hi! Matt   Sheryl and myself really feel for you! To have it happen twice is unbelievable!  But it could have been worse,  you could have had the grand kids in the back!  Or  you and the boss could have been seriously hurt.

I don't know how you controlled yourself?  I would have gone crazy!

I look forward in seeing how you repair the old girl as I'm  heading across to Ron's place.  It will give me something to read on the forum.

Well get on with job and get her back on the road, because you are probably not busy anyway ,you have plenty of spare time to do the repairs! Ha,ha.

Catch up in a couple of month's time.

So sorry to hear about the accident but glad you are both OK.  Unbelievable, I can't imagine what it feels like to go from such a high after having all your efforts turn out so well to such a low when you saw the damage.  Heartbreaking.  I enjoy the joking and teasing and good natured encouragement that we get to do on this forum and you play a big part in that but i can't think of a thing to say at a time like this.  I'd be deep in the scotch by now if I hadn't been arrested for assault of the other driver.

I know I was sad when you were nearing completion, it was fantastic just following along on the forum from halfway around the world. But by no means did I want to see it continue like this 😟. If anyone has the persistence to fix it once again it’s you. Wish I could help, but I guess I’ll just watch from here.

Not sure how you didn’t kill the lady that hit you. So glad you and the wife are ok.

Thanks everyone for your support it helps.
It’s bad when it’s the first immediate thing you think of when you wake up and start the pulling apart process in your head. I just remember the time and effort lining everything up and making it right now to basically pull the whole rear body to pieces is really shitting me. Never mind I just hope the assessor understands this. No use crying over spilt milk better just get on and fix it. At least this time I don’t have my daughters wedding a month away to have it ready for. 😂

Will you at least be able to receive some compensation for the damage by filing a claim against the other driver's insurance?

Yes I should do I’ve contacted my insurance and because she is at fault they will pursue her insurance.
shannons insurance let me fix the sedan when a similar thing happened. So I’ve had to do up a quote and send that to them today.

Matt,  So sorry to see what happened.  I am glad you and your wife didn't get hurt.  I've had a similar mishap before and it not fun, but the good thing is "this to shall pass" and will just be a memory.

Yer it sucks Teddy but as you say it will be a memory sooner than later.
Hows the coupe coming along?

Matt, I go away for two day and come home to this. There is something to be said for capital punishment. We are allowed to have more then one bullet, just so we can make sure.

Yer have to say Doug it’s probably lucky we’re not allowed to carry guns here. Still a bit gutted by the whole thing, I’m not normally one to dwell on things but this does feel like a big kick in the balls.
My luggage trunk is sitting in the doorway of my shed and I reckon I swore every time I looked or walked pass it today. 😂🤣

I’ll get over it soon. 😩😂

Bitch!!!!

Oh Matt........noooooooooo........I've just caught up whats been happening and I cannot believe it !!!

I would have sat in the gutter and cried.....how you kept your cool is beyond me.....I would have lost it big time.

Glad you and Jude are ok....and that it wasn't worse for that reason.

I guess the only positive thing is you built it so you know where everything goes but that doesn't make up for the pride when she was finished.

I am so very, very sorry this has happened.

I feel for you.....I really do.

Once I get the go ahead from Shannons I’ll probably attack it all pretty quickly.

Well I thought while I’m waiting for the ok to get started on my repairs the roadster needed some more bright work on it. 😁
with the generosity of some of the guys on this forum I was able to finish of my cowl lights to be used as fog lights mounted of the front bumper.
Derek was very kind and sent me a heap of parts, some which were better than I had. I’ve been able to replace my headlight bezel with a better one, fix my fog lights and replace my klaxon horn. .933C1EC5-115B-4EE8-B5B8-019D00900061.jpeg.db7adabbcdc32067f017213864c36848.jpeg8A734029-177E-480F-804C-654928A3112F.jpeg.884558ca8f83e38546175d0438814480.jpeg

Ron sent me some bumper mounting brackets which worked out perfect for the fogs. AEBBAF93-E983-4FB8-A143-05CC74B0BD2F.jpeg.a1a4a083fea2988bcfbcfa695cda4475.jpeg

Sasha39 (Alex) sent me a little dodge badge that I put onto my oil can that I have also refurbished. It had a few leaks and needed soldering. I’m going to mount it on the fire wall. C306D3B5-1483-45DE-95ED-E495A4F1976E.jpeg.ff72823d579494636b0feab89de8c04c.jpeg
Thanks heaps fellas for your generous gifts I’ll take good care of them until someone else gets the job.
ohh yes I also have a beautiful spare left hand cowl light ready for my next victory 😂

Do you do all your own plating Matt?

Yes I have a small home plating kit for Nickle and copper. I reckon it has saved me thousands of dollars. It’s so handy not having to send anything out and getting bits lost.

still working on the whitewalls Doug 😂

Got stuck into the repairs today and managed to get the luggage rack all back as good as new. Took a fair bit of work but I didn’t want to waste it without trying to straighten it. I already had some mounting brackets made so that was lucky.
After 3 hours of masking it all up I got the rear panel straightened out. It came out remarkably well with no major stretching of the steel thankfully. E8DEB32D-95A2-41BF-BDB4-F22B7DB64B9A.jpeg.a1d9c3012e6daa598bc50763b1fa1f96.jpeg995DF689-0D9A-4F76-8B8F-37194E56FD30.jpeg.dd8d0abf0ceea032cbe04bbfc5ff9c57.jpeg
