My Doors already had them in there Kevin, whilst normally the roadster doors only had one at the rear my door have had an extra one put in at the front. So I thought I’d utilise it and make a full frame. 
Mine definitely don’t have a spring in the bottom of them but they don’t really need it. I used some 3/8 stainless rod and turned it down to fit which made a nice little step as a stop. Sorry I can’t help you there Kevin.

Got my drivers side curtain finished today. Happy with it overall and hopefully it will only leak a little bit. We have some rain coming later this week so I might give it a test run. 
I’ll see how attaching it to the back of the windshield goes.

The door looks great and sure is more functional with the frame and sliding glass.  I always liked Landrovers so maybe I'm biased.

Matt, in following your thread I am in awe of your speed and skills.

You can be proud of the result and the side curtain alteration is a big part of that. It is hard to be safe with the originals so in my view the ability to see is paramount.

Thanks MB, That is one of the main reasons I wanted to go with the Perspex because looking through the clears in the rain is almost impossible. I was actually comparing the rear side window to the Perspex and it’s horrible to look through in comparison. The sliding part is just a bonus because we are addicted to coffee and always grab a drive through Cuppa when we’re out. I’m really happy with them I’ll be keen to see how they perform in the rain.

Got my splash trays in today. They actually fitted to my surprise I thought I would of had to make a few alterations to them. The front radiator one just needed the hole adjusted slightly. 
I like the splash trays in it makes the engine bay look neat. 

This picture below is for Ron and Doug , Do you two like the nuts I used there. 😂

I ended up putting cup head bolts in hoping the square would catch in the chassis rail, They did tighten up beautifully so I could do it all from underneath.

Well today The Victory six sports roadster is pretty much completed. 
All I have to do is build the luggage rack. 
All the top and side curtains are finished. 

She’s come along way 

So thank you to everyone that has helped and supported me with the restoration. 
Big  Thanks to Peter Johnson, Doug, Ron, Teddy Levitt, Bob,Rich,Dodge’y Stu Bill Gess, Dale Emmett,Derek Long, John Post and everyone else that helped me along the way. And especially my beautiful wife for putting up with me doing this everyday. 😁Couldn’t of done it without the help of everyone. So thank you all very much. 

I hope this thread will help and maybe give someone Some inspiration to take a rusty old wreckage and turn it into a beautiful old car again. 
Ive loved every second of it all there is no part that I didn’t enjoy doing.

Well Matt , it was the high light of the day! Just to seat down at nite and read the day's work list. 

It solved a few of my prolbem and probably other people's as well.  It also raised interesting questions, both mechanical and body wise.

Now I will have to find another topic  to help me relax at nite.

It's great to see it finished plus the bonus that it turned out so good and you are happy with end result.

I was going to do some undercoating today but the weather was pretty horrible so I ended up making some fluid tins for the running boards. 
gas is 8L the water is 5.5L and the oil is 2.8L so it’s nice to know you have some spares on board all the time or emergencies. 
Im going to remove my symbols I don’t really like them. I’ve got some brass caps coming so I might just paint them  in the different colours. 
I welded a nut to the bottom of the tin and they are bolted to the running boards with just one bolt in the middle. I always have a bag of tools under the seat.

Matt I have been working on everything while in shut down!

The Senior has had a few hours spent on it. The manifold has been fitted, the water pump also.still have to finish fitting the visor. Did make a few parts for the door catches plus installing the the headlights plugs and conduit that Ron made for me.

 There are a couple of other items like the caravan, 37 dodge etc. 

But the hardest thing to fix up is that bloody wombat ,it keeps trying to borrow under the house! What a mess it makes! Will catch up once the lock down is over.  Terry

Those cans are very cool.  Beautiful job.  I like the words better than the symbols if you are taking votes.  Also, I thought the build was done?  I'm happy to keep watching so keep  it up!

They look great.  Classy and traditional.  I'm a jeep guy and always liked the jerry cans that had the word for the contents stamped in the side.

Thanks Ken. I actually moved old Doddy across to the middle of the garage so I can pull the axle soon. 
I want to get that fixed so I can at least move it around. 
 

I took the roadster for a test drive in the rain yesterday to check for leaks, and as I drove out the gate it stopped raining so all that happened was is got covered in road grime and I had to wash it.

I feel sorry for my wife....she's a Nurse manager at a medical practice....almost doubled her hours with the Covid Vaccine and now the flu clinics...

We had this weekend booked to go away to the country........well thats not going to happen !

Spent the afternoon on starting the luggage rack. I was lucky enough to be able to purchase a pressing die of Glenn and Rosemary Smith. 
Glenn made this when he made a few luggage racks. Glenn did a beautiful job of making it. 

I made a pattern to cut the 1.6mm sheet out with the plasma cutter. That way if anyone else needs one it will save a bit of time. 
This is one half finished and I’ll do the other one tomorrow.

Looking at the underside pictures of the  Victory Six showing the steering rod, has remind me to post the photographs of an original Chrysler mopar steering rod Gaiter of unknown date. I have stupidly lost the box it came in.

I suspect  this is the most neglected part of a vintage car in terms if restoration and maintenance.This is not helped by the unavailability of new bolt (ball) part 174 and more critically the case harden cups.I was lucky enough to by a set of secondhand cups, still case hardened, to replace the ones in the photograph, one of the original cups was 1 mm oversize or 39.37 thousands 

The two linkages on the rod are possibly the most exposed to road dirt and water on the car. I made two garters about ten years age, for one of my great grandmother  kid skin gloves; these were based on the Chrysler design, but doubling the height from 16mm to 30mm and tapering the top to a near fit; the steel casing part I made from  brass .Last year I took one of the off to find out how effective it was, the grease was completely free of dirt.

Well, I see you guys have been quite busy. I just drove around 6000 miles in the US, saw many amazing things. Was through about 16 states. Most of the restaurants and motels were full, lots of people were traveling and hardly a mask to be found. I sure hope things are getting normal. Matt, the luggage rack looks quite official. Nice work.

Nice to have you safely back Doug. Hope you had a great holiday away. 
 

Progressing along with my luggage trunk this afternoon. Had 2 attempts at making the top it can be tricky getting all the measurements correct on the rolls and then have them line up square on the edges. My first fail at the lid here. 

Second attempt went a little better. 

Just one end to weld up now and the fit the piano hinge. Thank god cold rolled sheet it reasonably cheap.
