  11. It has been my experience that disc bake calipers that are not used much stick out and do not release completely. The cheapest thing to do would be track down the caliper part # and replace it to see if it makes a difference.
  12. Hello Joe, I believe you will find the 1928/29 Plymouth used the same transmission. I have sold them to De Soto owners in past years. I have a couple extra if you can't find any. The cheapest way to get one would buy all the internal parts and use your case. That would allow for a lighter ,smaller package for shipping. Stay Safe, Life is Good. Don Feeney central Ohio USA. Attached is my 1928 Q Plymouth
  13. Here's a idea from the "Working Irish" . Remove the top sifter plate Stand the transmission on the drum end and place it in a plastic tub or 30 gallon metal barrel and fill it about 14'' with a fluid of your choice, or better yet a mix. Diesel fuel is cheap. Every now and then try turning it. If you have a old clutch plate use it as a lever. ( When I was in prison I was the only inmate the Warden would let work on his wife's Whizzer motor bike. ) Stay Safe. Don
  14. Hello, I have the factory radio set up for this car if needed. Thanks, Don
  15. Hello, Drop the tank, Remove the sending unit and hook it up to a ohm meter. According to the other comments it should read 30 ohms on one end of the swing and 0 on the other with a smooth transition between up and down. This is not rocket science. Good Luck
  16. Hello Tom, I believe I have a Q and a U steering box. I am 40 miles north of Columbus, Ohio. Let me know if you can't find one. thanks, Don
  17. Have you cleaned the outside of the axle housing to see if there is a grease fitting. The rear wheel bearings of many early autos were greased this way. Stay Safe, Don
  18. Hello, Up for sale are 3 nice hub caps. They will polish up with little effort. I believe they are early 20's. I bought them at a swap meet to put on my 1922 Big Six, they look the same but did not fit. They measure 2 3/4 across the inside. All 3 for $75 plus shipping. Stay Safe, Don in central Ohio. I do not text. 740-816-4284
  19. The wiper turns on by pulling the shaft out. They can be rebuilt and the felt wiper inside drys out. I am not aware of correct reproduction knobs. Over the years I have acquired 2 1/2 factory radio set ups which I will be selling in the near future.
  20. Hello, I am not a expert but do have a working knowledge of basic generator circuits. In the early days a cut out was used. This was a relay that when the engine was off the points were open. If they stuck close the battery voltage would drain away through the armature. The relay has two coils, a weak and a strong one. When the generator starts spinning the voltage pulls close the points through the weaker coil. This allows the battery to be charged. As the battery voltage increases it pulls in the stronger coil which then opens the points until the battery voltage no longer hold open the points then they close again until the battery becomes charged again. A generator shop can set the coils to the proper specs if a replacement relay won't work out of the box.
  21. Hello, My 28 Plymouth had wood wheels which I changed to 20 inch wire wheels. You can use PA brake drums front and rear . Everything bolted together. How ever these parts are hard to find now. In early 29 Plymouth used a 20 " wheel but switched to 19" later in the year. Good Luck. Don
  22. A good generator shop could check your generator output and set the regulator or cut out. Knowing both those are in speck will good and be a place to start. It;s not Rocket Science but requires a basic knowledge of the different problems which might occur.
  23. Hello. I also have a early Plymouth 4 . The distributor points and condenser ground out through the distributor body. The body is loose in the block so it can rotate when you change your manual spark advance. It is not necessarily a good ground. My distributor body had a extra threaded hole on it and I added a ground wire from the distributor body to the engine block. This should allow for a consistent ground. The carb is a updraft with out a real accelerator pump like the mid 30's carbs had. See if it starts better with a squirt of either. I run a later BB1 carb on mine like they used on the COE Chevy trucks.
  24. Some automakers used a small spring to keep the throw out bearing from moving forward and riding on the pressure plate. With your list of Grahams I would suspect you are a Graham club member. Ask another member with the same year car.
