There is quite of drop in the hood, typical of Studebaker. My 1922 Studebaker EK drops 4 1/2 inches.

Hello, Wait till dark and pull the coil wire out of the center of the distributor cap. Hold it close to the engine head and have someone crank the engine over with the ignition on , See how blue and long the spark is. This will tell you the condition of your ignition system.

Hello Schoppi, Your English is better then my German. I am a 74 year old retired mechanic and tinker my days away in the old car hobby. I will sell my Plymouth axles for $75. each. I would buy two and you would have a spare. Send me your city and I will get a quote on the shipping. I have a 1931 Chrysler rear end apart in the shop now. The axles are different but they use the same bearings, cones and seals as the Plymouth. I have been working with the owner as where to find the parts. I checked my local NAPA store today and they can order the cones new for $10 ea. The bearings are shown on American E-bay at different.prices. The cone # is Timken 14276 and the bearing # is Timken 14138 R You can find the bearing on American E-bay under that number. Do you have your parts removed? These rear ends are not user friendly. The end play shim washers are under the inside race, this means that to change or set end play you have to remove the inner race, In doing so the inner seal gets ruined. In 1936 Plymouth changed the design and moved the shims to the outside. I will be very busy the next month and away from home a few days a week. Hello Larry, I am building what I call a Vanderbuilt racer much like the Famous Locomobile " Old 16" which is now in the motor city. I plan to use as many period parts as I can find. I'm starting with a a 1914 Cadillac chassis with RH steering. I would like to find a set of 34 x 4 wood wheels/tire rims. I could go smaller depending what becomes available however I would like to stat in the 1905-1912 period. I enjoy building things from pieces that many people would throw away .Attached are photos of the 1922 Studebaker Big 6 racer that I have just finished. It started life as a touring car, was converted into a truck and set for 40 years. When I bought it 7 years ago it was beyond restoration. However I had a vision of a dirt track racer that was built "Back in the Day" I have the same winter here in central Ohio that you do in Michigan and it keeps me busy in the heated workshop. Hello again, I found a guy in Indiana that has 4 finished 25" wheels,spoke wood wheels and tires. He has these on a 1910 Maxwell. He said they are Cadillac wheels. He has 26 Stanweld 'wire wheels ordered and they should be finished in about 2 months. At that time his 25" wheels will be for sale.
