  1. For Sale. 1931 Chrysler CD-8 series 1 6 Wheel Roadster . Odometer showing 70K believed to be correct. Clear Ohio title. I have owned this car for the last 12 years and driven it about 4,000 miles. At 75 my time to downsize has arrived. The car was redone around 1980 and it is now a older restoration. It runs and drives well and is ready to go. I have enjoyed it and took good care of it but was not a afraid to drive it. It has all the parts, Front driving lights, Radiator grille stoneguard , Nice side mount tire mirrors . Wind Wings. Radio, exhaust whistle, steering column vacuum fan, correct metal trunk ( not shown in the pictures) rear luggage rack and top down rest brackets. The clum switch works. When I purchased the car the top , side curtains and top down cover was just redone.($4500) The car has always sat inside since I have owned it. After purchasing the car I discovered the compression readings were uneven and outside the normal limits. There was a piston ring/land problem. I mic'd the bore's and found them to be straight and not wore. I bought a new set of of standard pistons/rings/gasket set from Egge( $1500) and installed them along with a new timing chain. I honed the block before installing the parts. While the engine was apart I ground the valve seats in the block and had the valves resurfaced. The head was also resurfaced. Upon reassembly things were as they should be. A few years later the master cylinder started leaking and I rebuit it and exchanged the fuel pump. The rubber in the front pulley came apart and I had it rebuilt by the Damper Doctors ($350). I believe if you wanted a 8 cylinder Chrysler Roadster this would be your only choice outside of a Imperial. In 32 and 33 the 8 was not offered in the roadster. Remember this car is 89 years old and in overall excellent condition It is not showroom new but has a nice panita. If you follow the CD-8 Roadster market you will find these don't come up for sale very often. I expect to recover my investment of $ 44K. I live about 40 miles north of Columbus Ohio at the 140 mile marker of I-71. Please note I do not text. Thanks, Don Feeney 740-816-4284 central Ohio F5415F@aol.com
  2. Hello Don, I also have early Plymouths with copper brake lines. I have been told that these lines are not regular copper but a tubing that the refrigeration industry use today. I have a old fashioned siphon gun that holds about a qt. and you hook up your air hose line to it. I would blow the line out first with air to make sure its open. If blocked use a length 10 ga single strand electrical wire to run into the line to unblock it. Then put brake fluid in the siphon gun and wash out the line. Since it's brake fluid any residue left over won't hurt anything. Make a device to catch the brake fluid coming out as it is harmful to paint and makes a general mess. Just a thought. Don Feeney
  3. Hello again George, Have you been in contact with Vin Cassady? As I mentioned before he has quite a collection of early rims and is quite knowlegable Send me your home address and I'll make some copy's from my rim book. My computer friend will be here this week and perhaps he can teach me how to scan a copy and send it by E-mail. Yesterday was a good day for me. I have the chain drive rear finished on the Vanderbuilt project and the Golf cart electrical controls transferred and powered the unit up using the 36 volt batteries. I was happy to see the chains run. I think when finished this will be a neat parade car. You can see the golf cart motor/rear axle in the attached picture. Good luck on your rim search. Don Feeney
  4. Hello, I put one on my 1933 Plymouth several years ago and have been happy with it. The lights are much brighter and it charges at a higher rate
  5. Hello, I am listing a complete working Remy distributor #358-B from what I believe to be a 1918 Six. I used it in my 1922 Big 6 . $100. thanks Don in central Ohio 740-816-4284
  6. Hello George, I have been having trouble with my computer but did get your E-mail asking about your rims. In Mansfield I did measure your rim diameter but no longer have the figures. I'm thinking they are called 21 inch but actually larger. Do you know the vendor Vin Cassidy from the Boston area?. 1-978-758-0834 . He deals in early parts from 1900 to the late 20's. I saw him at Hershey last year and bought two nice 32 x 4 Kelsey rims for $85. ea. I was happy. He said he has about 2000 rims. I expected to cross paths with you at Hershey but discovered I wrote your vendor spot down wrong and had no other information with me. I had a great buying spree and found all the parts I was looking for. Attached you will see I have completed the dual chain drive rear end for my 1907 Vanderbuilt racer project. Only one chain is shown. I have the axles made but I need to have them shortened by a machine shop as they are too hard for my metal saw to cut. They plug into the rear hubs and them the wood wheel brake drum bolts to them. Then chains are drive by a 36 volt golf cart rear axle which is shown in the picture. I am having fun building this and should be driving it around the neighborhood this Spring. Give me a ring if you have some spare time. I hope your back is doing better. Life is Good. 8. Hello, If you have a ohm meter you can check your distributor on the bench. It will tell you if you have a good connection across the points.
  9. Hello, I have found many old and obsolete bearings on E-bay. The more Brand #'s you have the better your chance.
  10. Hello, Please note if your distributor drive is like a 8/9 N Ford tractor with the camshaft end driving the distributor the slot and drive dog are offset and must be installed the same way. If you install it 180 out you can break off the distributor mounting ears if you crank them down. "Just Saying" Be sure to find out if yours is like this

  16. Hello, I am not a Chevy expert but do have a 49 GMC panel. It is my understanding that 49 and early GM trucks 50 did not have the vent wing on the front doors.
  17. I have always been amazed that they made as many 30-U's as 29U's or PA's but you never see any. They must have wore them out back in the day.
  18. Hello, Thanks for your information. I'm sure this engine will find its way to a new garage. Don
  19. Hello, I have been in the Plymouth club many years and used to speak to your father at different events. I also realize you know quite a lot about early Plymouths. In my add I listed the serial number of the engine. If you check I believe Plymouth offered 3 different blocks in 29. A non water pump, fuel pump block. A waterpump non fuel pump block and a water pump fuel pump block. The 30U used the 29U water pump fuel pump block. All 30 U's had a water pump fuel pump. This is how we learn about the different changes that came about on the production line. About 5 or 6 years ago I bought a set of 20" wire wheels from you at Hershey, yours Don Feeney
  20. I acquired this engine in a sale. The owner had sold his car and then sold me his spare parts. The serial number is U264538 The engine turns over. It is a water pump, fuel pump engine. 21. Up for sale is a 1928 Plymouth frame from a 4 dr. I had the chassis and running gear transported from California several years ago. The frame is very clean. I have had stored it inside every since. It is shown next to what I believe to be a Chrysler Roadster Cowl. The frame only is $400. and must be picked up here in central Ohio. Thanks, Don 740-816-4284

  24. Hello, This is not a fix for loose wood wheels but "Back in the Day" when wood wheels were common, once or twice a year they were painted with a mixture of Linseed Oil and paint thinner to help keep the wood moist and therefore expanded. Most wood wheel users have failed to continue this practice.
