  1. The oil pan looks like my 1928 Plymouth, however the large screen removal drain plug is a little different. The oil pressure relief valve was on the center main bearing and after removing the drain plug there was enough room to adjust the valve. Is your pan for sale? Don
  2. Hello, Please note that you have to oil the distributor drive gears. These are in the housing that bolt to the front of the camshaft and turns the drive direction 90 degrees. There should be a oil cup showing that you flood with oil. The oil drops down into the sump the gears run in. This is the only way the gears get oil. Do it twice a year. Failure to do so will result in ruined gears.
  3. Good used one's can still be found. You can advertise for free in their magazine if you are a member of the Plymouth club. Money well spent to join.
  4. I have seen this wheel on several different makes in the 1926-28 age range, including my 1928 Plymouth
  5. Hello, I believe Plymouth changed their transmission bell housing bolt pattern in 1933. Therefore a 41 case will not bolt onto a pre 32 bell housing , Life is Good , Don.
  6. Hello, I am surprised that the general comment has not been on timing. If your engine does not have external timing marks like many early engines ,make your own. Bring the piston up to TDC on the compression stroke and stop. Take a piece of metal coat hanger and make a pointer with one end attached to a bolt and the other end going over the crankshaft pulley. Paint a mark on the pulley. You now can see your static timing, you should also be able to see your spark advance, Plus if you change anything you will be able to put it back to where it started. Life is Good,
  7. From the pictures I can't see if it has extra small holes. It looks to me like a mount for the front brake hoses. You can almost picture a flat copper washer on each side of the large hole. Extra holes would rule this out. I have seen this before on my 28,29 or 33 Plymouth. The end of the front brake hose has a banjo end and bolts to the fitting with a flat copper washer on each side. A hollow bolt hold everything together and allows the brake fluid to pass. The banjo end of the brake hose also a set of fingers which plug the fitting small holes which keeps the hose from rotating by the force of the front wheels turning and pulling on the hose.
  8. I believe it is the PD model not the PC
  9. Hello, Don't be surprised if the drums pull off hard ( front and rear) sometimes when they they wear , groves form on them which hang up the drums. Adjust the shoes in as far as possible.
  10. Hello, I am looking for a steering column support like the one shown in my picture (1922 Studebaker) for a speedster project. I would think quite a few different years would work. What have you? Stay Safe, Think Spring. Don in central Ohio 740-816-4284
  11. Hello My Friend, Although I can give you no information about your problem I would post the Question in the REO section of the forum. A REO person with past past experience is bound to see it. Stay Safe, Think Spring
  12. Hello, A 1928 Q and a 1929 U are almost identical in appearance, The 28 Q used the Maxwell engine and the 29U used the first true Plymouth 4. Post a picture of your engine so it can be identified. The engine serial number on both engines are on the drivers side of the engine on the front middle side. The 28 Q starts with a Q and the 29U , a U. A car with bad wood is a labor of Love that most people won't undertake. USA Plymouth Q's had two groves on the bumper faces and the 29 U one. The 28 Q used a hex hub cap and the 29 a slightly larger hub cap. The pictures appear to be a 29 but the engine will tell for sure. Think Spring, Don
  13. Hello, If you go to E-Bay motors, type in Timken bearing 415, one comes up for $65. Life is good, Stay Safe, Don
  14. The 1928 Plymouth hub cap was removed by using a hex wrench. This distorted the Hex. The 1929 Plymouth hubcap was larger and had two holes on the inside for a spanner wrench. Stay Safe Don
  15. I believe 28/29 and early 30U was one style( A separate 90 degree housing ) and the late 30U PA, PB was another. Which one are you looking for?

  22. I would think your thread size is 5/16-24 since you can turn it 6 turns. Buy a bottom tap and retread the handle. I use a little thread lock as the knob as it can come use by continuous use. The knobs are expensive now compared to the old days. Stay Safe. Don

  24. Hello, Could you bend the clip inwards a bit giving it a tighter fit? This would be easy, will not cost anything and if it doesn't work your not out anything.
