  1. Did a test run with this 31-67 for just under 30 miles today. I stopped at a friend's garage & took this photo...
  2. About the only other thing it could be is a misalignment of the new cap & rotor. I suggest you measure the height of the rotor contact relative to the cap contacts to make sure the are at the same height when the cap is installed.
  3. Carmover, Are your spark plug wires carbon filament or solid copper wire type? Have you checked continuity between each of the spark plug wire connections to the contacts inside the distributor cap?
  4. A friend from Portland OR needs this transmission. Please respond with a private message to me as I do not frequent this part of the forum.
  5. Ken, Perhaps you should just dress the high lobes to match and have a uniformly worn cam like Brian's.
  6. I do recognize some of those Buicks and their owners from the eastern side of the country. Here are a few from the western side. 1913 Model 31 1912 Model 34 1915 Model C25 Modified Speedster 1908 Model F
  7. I confirm Gary's comments and will add that Sandy Olsen is a true hero for this hobby!
  8. I use my 4 post lifts for storage as well as servicing.... A sliding cross-member provides a base to jack up front or back to remove wheels etc. No worries & no crawling on the floor to set the arms either...
  9. I think at least one company that serves car collectors should offer a 6V jump starter with an integral air pump like this one:
  10. Modifying old cars into "Jalopies" started when servicemen returned from WWII.

  15. I still have these gears. They will go cheap if anybody needs them.
  16. I just went through this with WA State Patrol Inspections to correct the year of mfg. for a 1931 Buick Model 67 that was registered as a 1930. Aside from the fact that some previous inspector couldn't see the difference between a straight 8 and a 6 cylinder car, Covid also caused multiple problems in getting an inspection appointment. And some state inspectors previously refused to accept the original riveted ID plates used by Buick in the early days and would only used stamped numbers on the engine for registration. It took two months to get an appointment, and because it was a non-op car, it had to be trailered to the inspection station. It turned out to be a big hassle, but I did get it done correctly with a new inspector. The nasty old inspector who refused to use riveted frame numbers must have finally retired.
  17. One of the first things to check is the hose on the suction side of the water pump. As the rubber gets old it becomes more flexible with heat and may be partially collapsing. This starves the pump and will create foam in severe cases. You cannot see it collapse while driving, or even when stopped with the engine running. Check to see if the hose has a spiral wire in it to keep it from collapsing, or just replace it with a new hose with the wire.

  19. I completely agree.... I quit selling on Evilbay...
  20. I just started my 31-67 this morning for the fist time in over ten years. This car was gifted to me by a friend who passed. He purchased it over ten years ago, got sick, and never got it to run. I had to remove the rocker assy. and work on two stuck valves, install a new electric fuel pump, and rebuild the carburetor with a new cork float. Unfortunately, the float valve is not the original and is not yet seating. So, I need an original to make it work properly. I also need a replacement throttle arm as the original was broken.
  21. No complaints from me, since Brian made a custom back seat windshield for us...
  22. Yes, Tom Dessert is just north of Vancouver WA.
