Steve_Mack_CT
That car pulls off dual rear mounted spares, usually a demerit IMHO, but a single would work as well. I get the chrome tailpipe but it does seem a little strained to me. Fantastic main lines, would have to think on it as the holy grail, but if more boxes need checking Eddie must have a helluva list...
Cadillac Fan
Is it the only Dietrich individual custom to win pebble beach BOS? I would say that it has too many seats to be a Packard grail. Interesting that the “standard” 34 individual Victoria sold for more (2022 $4.1mm vs 2018 $3.7mm). For most cars if you move the sidemounts to double rear spare the price goes up a lot. The only exception is the lower priced cars where sidemounts were an extra option, so guys accustomed to the single rear spare get worked up about side mount cars. This car is fantastic. I hate the whitewalls, of course. But as nit, there is something just not quite right about the rear quarter, but it shows well in the posted pictures here. I put it on par with the standard fendered Deitrich Victoria. Maybe a little ahead because of the double rear spare.
CD9591
I would still like to know the quality of workmanship/fit & finish on these cars if anyone has seen any original examples to make a judgement. Tph479
Here are the 1933 and 1934 sport sedans The 33 has painted wires and the donut chaser, the 34 has the full chrome wires with whitewalls, the bale cap and the hood all the way back. Very pretty car. Job well done on these cars. 4

packard12man
Looking for an answer from some history buffs regarding the following photo. I spent half the day today on the internet trying to answer my own question but no luck. My question is - Was the Car of the Dome displayed at the 1934 New York auto show? Not a great shot but it appears the 4th car from the left is a Dietrich Sport Sedan. The wife asked me the question - Why do you care about this stuff - and to be honest - I can't come up with a good answer!!

58L-Y8
Definitely a sport sedan, the color rendition suggest it could be "The Car of The Dome". Had the image been taken just a tad to the right, so we could see there were no side mount spares, that would narrow it down.

Ed, Assuming you are referring to the '34 double spare 12 Victoria, I believe it was found abandoned in a derelict state missing its passenger door, on perhaps a military base. West may have covered this in A.A. a while back.
