  1. Ed, you don't have to sugar coat it, just say what you really think.
  2. Not one particular car but Dietrich body quality in general, compared to other coachbuilders or even the factory.
  3. I would still like to know the quality of workmanship/fit & finish on these cars if anyone has seen any original examples to make a judgement. As an aside, who was the best coachbuilder in this regard ?
  4. I have that magazine, just amazing the original owner still had a car of that type in that condition especially having driven it 59K miles. He couldn't have been an "average" person to have been able to purchase it in 1934, but I agree those were simpler times. It also seems the car wasn't shown much after that time.
  5. I'm just surprised that even in the late 50's not much was said about it in The Classic Car etc., you would think it would have been a big deal even then, original owner of a machine of that caliber & condition, unless of course Mr. Hussey downplayed it.
  6. Amazing that Fred Hussey bought the phaeton new and kept it all those years and in the condition its in, not much has ever been written about the car to my knowledge.
  7. Isn't that fantastic and amazing that a machine of that type has been kept up that well for so many years, I wonder what prompted Mr. Hussey to keep it so long and in the condition it is.
  8. Is the Hussey/Bahre LeBaron phaeton in the above pictures all original ? I know Mr. Hussey bought it new.
  9. In fairness the factory 2/4 coupes with they're lower roofline were much better, not as good as the Dietrich but still good.
  10. The V windshield with more rake helps along with the stretched cowl, you're right the painted wheels are a better look in this instance (maybe because of the dark color ?)
  11. B&S did it no favors, but, it was better in a dark color. Needs to lose the spotlights it didn't have in the 30's also.
  12. So would "puke brown" be better on this particular car for PB etc. ?
  13. Does anyone know the original color of the maroon car since the color is being brought into question ?
  14. Which car is that ? Yes,Bayard Badenhausen had a blue '33 P Dietrich Phaeton but he also owned a '34 Dietrich coupe with the cut away running boards, in fact the picture of that car is from his article. He bought the car in the late '30's early '40's from Bryn Mawr Packard in Philly for $850. He makes note that it was a metallic green originally.
