Cadillac Sports Car - Was this ever made?

Recommended Posts

Im not finding this thing all that attractive. Looks real/full size to me but photoshop.  The Caddy fender caps look kinda hazy at the transition. The pointy chrome thingy on the grill is unnecessary, the rear fenders look a bit triumph? Not sure I even like the BB-S'que wheels (I had a set that leaked like a sieve!) The 'vette they started with is ok.

I think the bigger hypothetical question is twofold, why would Caddy do that when they already had the Eldorado and what would have been under the hood?

Tough to tell the year this car is supposed to represent, unlike the Olds, to me styling queues seem to cross model years.

Then, would any C1 corvette platform easily take a Cadillac 8?  Not sure but I agree she ain't a beauty queen.. 😉 😁

George, you should tell us more about this miniature model:

Is it something you found pictured on the internet?

Is is something you know, but just want to discuss?

Are you hoping to fool us into thinking it's full-sized? 😄

I saw the photo on FB. I figured someone here would know if it ever was/is a real car, a model, or a figment of someone’s imagination. In any case, I really like it.

I have to admit that I enjoyed reading all the comments above. Just because I do like studying historic photos, and often run into fake photos, and because once in awhile I like to play the game? I looked the picture over for a couple minutes before moving on to already posted comments.

GM did build quite a few "Show cars", "Concept cars", and even a number of professional customs were built outside. I was fairly sure it wasn't an in-house real car. But I never made up my mind whether it was a real car or photoshop. If a photoshop, it looks well done. I can usually spot photoshop in a few seconds. (Although the technology IS getting better!)

Here you go...

This went around online about 3 years ago:

https://www.carscoops.com/2019/10/1959-cadillac-roadster-deville-is-based-on-a-c1-corvette/

if you go to the website and click on the photo of each car you will notice in the background a couple feeding the birds. This couple have not moved while they brought in 5 different color Cadillacs for a photo shoot. They must relay love those birds!

That was my point.

Let me tell you about the time my bird watcher sister spotted a yellow rumped warbler. Nothing would distract her from that. And she likes cars.

Is this Photoshop or a custom that someone actually made. Obviously not anything ever made by Cadillac. Clearly someone saw the Oldsmobile F88 and tried the same thing with 59 Caddy elements.
