50jetback
Anyone have an email address for Dave Tachney - can't find one with any of his contact links on other sites. A PM with his email address would make contact a lot easier from over here.
jscheib
Stuart,I know that phone calls back and forth to Australia can get expensive and also at odd hours, so I am wondering if we could work out somehow with a person, or persons on a rotating basis, to communicate with you be e-mail, with a person here in this country calling Dave for answers to your question. I think the person here should be knowledgable of that era Buick. I wish I could help more, but if there is no one that comes forward to serve as the contact, I would be glad to help.John
Jim65Riv
I live about ten miles from Dave, and would be willing to contact him on anyone's behalf. Jim65Riv
I just got off the phone with Greg Johnson. He saw Dave at the post office this morning and Dave said that he was swamped with inquiries. Send Greg at PM through this site at 2carb40 and he'll pass it along to Dave. He sees Dave about once a week.

Dynaflash8
Dave helped me get my '39 Buick through restoration with many parts, very small to large. I found him after seeing a small ad he posted in 2005 in Hemmings. If he was swamped before, he'll really be swamped after all of this email posting, ha. What I would suggest to the fellow who started this tread is that you call the man one time and let him tell you the best way to correspond with him. You know, snail mail may still work too.Dave Gelinas, where in the world did you get that wonderful picture of the introductory 1946 Buick in the parade? Could I buy a copy of that picture from you? 39BuickEight
You have to call him at the number above. He is not online.FWIW, based on my experience, he's great at writing down what you need and never calling back. Then when you call him back, it's like starting all over again. I hate to say it but I've given up on him. I guess he's just too busy. I've tried a few different times over the past few years to use his apparently vast parts supply. He tells me he thinks he has what I need, then I'm back at square one.He is always friendly and seems to have good intentions. MCHinson
I will have to chime in here. I have never met Dave in person. I recently became the owner of a 1937 Buick Century. I called him about some parts that I needed. It took me several tries to reach him by phone. When I talked with him he was very nice and very helpful. He quoted me prices on what I needed. I then sent him a check along with a letter listing the parts that I wanted and the prices that we had agreed to. He shipped me the parts that I needed before he even cashed the check.Dave's prices were much lower than I had been quoted by someone else that had one of the parts that I needed. I would recommend him without reservation to anyone who needs any parts. I even received a message from someone overseas who was looking for parts and I was able to call Dave for that overseas Buick owner and it looks like Dave is going to be able to help him with his needs as well. Dynaflash8
Agreed here. Dave Tachney saved my bones over and over while I was restoring my National Award winning 1939 Buick Special convertible coupe. I just wish I could go to Minnesota some day and visit his farm. Remember too, Dave is often on the road, going long distances to find pre-war Buick parts cars to haul back to his farm so he can keep the parts coming to all of us guys. He goes out there in very low temperatures, even in the snow and gets you even the smallest part that you are desperate for. For my part, I can highly recommend him. Guest JFK2000
Hi guys, I'm looking for the Buick 1932, 90/97 series car for parts or for restoration. I also need several 90 series engines for this car. Also, for these engines we need pumps, timers, gear, gearbox, pistons, engine heads, etc. In fact, we need more or less everything engine and gearbox related in a good or repairable state. Do you think you could kindly pass this request to Dave? Thanks!
MCHinson
JFK2000, Welcome to the AACA Discussion Forum. I don't know if Dave has anything for 1932, as I only have experience with later 30s Buicks but the way to deal with him is to give him a call or write him a letter. You can call him at 763-427-3460. You can usually reach him in the evening. If you call. Otherwise, you can write him a letter at his address of 11949 Oregon Ave. N, Champlin, MN 55316. Actually, any year of the 90 series Buicks and parts are what I'm interested in. Thank you for Dave's contacts. So, I take it, he doesn't have an e-mail or Skype you could share? I'm writing from Europe and it would be much easier for me to contact Dave that way. Yours, JFK2000

So, I keep it to the most needy thing I need. Sometimes he has had time to chat a bit, but I feel guilty when or if I envolve him in any chatter. What he is doing is a treasure to we pre-war Buick guys. We don't want to wear the man thin. Just my opinion. MCHinson
While it may seem like a lost art, I still get occasional letters by mail from some of the members of the 36-38 Buick Club. I get ads, photos, and stories that way every now and then for inclusion in the Torque Tube II. I try to limit my calls to Dave to the minimum necessary to order parts. I try not to call him and take up any of his time that can be better spent pulling parts off of his parts cars.
Jim Nelson
Try e-mailing one of the guys here. Then have them call dave and forward your questions. With answers, e-mail back. The way you can get most of your questions answered. Then you might need to call him.. He returns calls but to Au ??? Try this way. Post questions on this first and you will be surprised about the answers. Dave had an article posted in out 36-38 club Tork Tube about him and his parts. It was nice to put a pix with a voice over the phone.
smithbrother
Not to PICK on anyone, but being OLD SCHOOL when it come to basic computer skills, EXAMPLE: an Email address, is short changing yourself. In my honest opinion. My bride was of that thinking a few months ago, slowly she started learning, now she does well, she has commented so many times how helpful it is, adds a new outlook on communications, and the GOOGLE search engine is wonderful. A friend in another state kept telling her hubby, let Dale get you involved, now he does better than myself. He doesn't type, so notes are short, very short, but it works. I'm happy for him.
