JohnD1956
Well Kozaka, we have a general policy here which loosely interpreted says , Your Buick, Your Way. While the front of that car is not my preference, it's not my car to judge.

Guest Riva
Hello all: I'm Michael and very new to Rivieras, having just gotten a '63 with only 68,488 original miles. I've just finished 12 coats of Bronze Mist, base coat/clear coat and just finishing the new interior. Got new rubber all 'round and am trying to solve those jig-saw puzzles now.I do have a question or two so I'll just jump right in.Who can I get the Rear Quarter window front edge seal CHROME pieces from?Need to know a good source for parts and will take any advise you want to give me.Stlll haven't figured out just how to put the roof rail seals on but fortunately the folks at OPGI were helpful letting me know which is the inside felts and the outside too. (I was gonna put the long one for the door, on the outside of the glass.) ;O)I'm really looking forward to a good time here. Hope I don't soung TOO new.MRB

juanatejeda
Hello all, I'm Juan (TJ), a retired Cop from Cali. I've been around for awhile, but have never introduced myself, other than making a few posts here and there.I have a 59 Thunderbird, a 27 Dodge Brothers 4screen which actually belongs to the Sheriff's Department where I was employed, but since I was the one that got it restored about 20 years ago, I now take care of it, show it and pretty much am responsible for it. We, my son and I have also had a 73 Mach I Mustang, an 85 Mustang and we have a 68 VW Bug.Anyway, thanks for all the help through the years!Juan
Guest BlastRman
Hi Everyone, My name is Jw. and I go by the name BlastRman. I am new here and would like to introduce myself. I am retired and am doing sand blasting with a cabinet and larger outside units, but I dont use sand. I have a couple of old harley's that I have restored, one is a 00 Road King and the other is an 84 Shovel 3 wheeler, I also have a 51 Chevy 3600 3/4 ton stake truck, but the reason I am here is that I just acquired a 54 Buick Special 4 dr that I am just blown away about, this is the car that the rich kids parents had when I was a kid and I thought it was the neatest car ever.....now I have one which need a lot of work and I know nothing about it.....it has the coolest dash board of any American car I have ever seen....I joined last night after I found your club and was very intrigued by the level of knowledge and enthusiasm that I found in your forum. I would like to be able to contribute some day, but right now I know nothing. I hope that you will be patient with me while I ask some really stupid questions. Right now though, I will keep the cotton in my mouth and try to keep it out of my ears. I do know a lot about abravise blasting on anything from Metal to wood, If I can be of any help there; please do not hesitate to ask...thanks everyone and Merry Christmas

Guest Barz51
Hello All, I'm a teacher near Lansing Michigan; I'm into traditional hot rods and kustoms. I just picked up a rusty and crusty '57 four door Buick that's been parked in a field since '76. I plan on parting it out but keeping the Nailhead; I've got a '51 Ford Crestliner that might be a good home for it. The engine was stuck but after soaking it with Sea Foam and Mystery Oil it will turn with a breaker bar. It will need a full rebuild but it looks pretty complete. It looks like you guys have amassed a wealth of information here and I'm glad I found it!

smithbrother
IMO it is a 1941 Buick, I base my opinion on the appearance that it doesn't have exposed running boards. 1941 was the first year Buick covered the running boards with exterior sheet metal, IMO.Have a great year,Dale in Indy
JohnD1956
When I blew the picture up the name on the hubcap appears upside down and looks like it has more than 5 letters. Could be Pontiac. Also could be a pontiac hubcap on a Buick. I agree with Dale that it looks like the side of a 41 Buick.
Guest rockyp
Hello, my name is Rocky Pavkov from NE Ohio. My wife Heather and I just picked up our first Buick project ever, a 48 Roadmaster 4 door. Heather's father has a 39 2 door Super, and she always said she wanted an old Buick, so here we are. It's all there, but needs a complete restoration. I am a capable car guy, but have many Buick-specific questions, and not really anyone to ask. So, I'm hopeful this forum will prove to be a good resource.

Guest tboke
Happy New Year everyone! My name is Terry from St. Alberta, Alberta and probably like most on these forums grew up playing with and taking apart what were to us then just old cars (if I only had now all the cars that my buddies and I went through!) Found out that the hard part is putting them back together. I have to admit to "lurking" for some time now, just too busy with work and other stuff to introduce myself. My New Years Resolution...Man up, join the BCA (done) and start joining in. This has been a Buick year for my wife and I.In first place, last spring we purchased a 1939 Roadmaster 81C. Always loved the styling and presence of the prewar cars in general and my wife fell in love with this one. Its a "20 footer" but we intend on working on it as time goes by and enjoy driving it now. Lots of questions about things but I will post them in the appropriate forum. Secondly, wife needed a new vehicle for work, puts on a lot of miles, looked at all the (and I mean all!) the new vehicles and ended up with an Enclave.Third, an opportunity came up this fall and my wife and her father bought a 1940 Special Model 44-19 (McLaughlin). Its also a driver, but in decent original shape. The question I have to ask of the long time Buick guys is this. Is this normal when you start owning Buicks and should I build a bigger shop in case any more Buicks show up in my yard? All the best in the New YearTerry Bokenfohr

Guest deekster_caddy
Hello all,I am a long time buick nut, and relatively new to this forum (although I signed up years ago through the ROA). I don't have a Riv anymore, but I do finally have my '73 LeSabre back on the road. It's been 11 long years since I drove it last. Now it's got a tired 455 (still better than it's old 350) and I need a few parts to finish it off. Hopefully this forum can help me find what I need!!!-Derek

My name is Mike out of Indiana and here is my baby... It has been in my family for over 35 year. My father purchased it from My uncle in the mid 70's and he had it repainted in the 80's. He and I also took off the ext chrome and had it all redone in the 80's... The int is all original with a little less than 70,000 miles on it... My father passed Nov 2010 and the great machine became mine... Edited January 10, 2012 by 1957_Buick_Roadmaster_75 (see edit history)

Your right in saying this car is a gym... The one thing I am doing for it, is putting on a new original exhaust system. My dad had a new exhaust put on by car-x in the 90's but it was in no way what was close to original... I have found a company on eBay that sells a reproduction of the entire system for $510 to my door, but I am still looking for the shield or deflectors that go in the rear bumpers to deflect the heat. I found some online (at cars I think) for $65 each, but I just started looking... Other than that, the thin and ripping driver seat might be my next project, but I hate touching the interior seeing how it is all original. To reupholster the front and rear seats I was quoted around $3000... The back seat does not need anything done to it, but I was told that if I did the front, I would need to do the rear to match…As for wax, I am not sure I can get it any more shine out of it lol...I also just joined the National BCA and the local chapter in December... I have not heard anything from the national yet... Sure wish I could do NC this year, but not sure I can drive it that far... 2013 will be here in Indiana so I know I will get to do that one.... Guest scottmello1
Scott, Welcome, I know what you can do with a car like that...DRIVE IT!!!That's my favorite Buick! and yours with continental kit, awesome!!!Hopefully you are already a member of the Buick Club of America. Please let us know how we can help you with your '58.Well thank you!Ive definitely been driving it. My dad had a lot of work done to it, but didnt get enough time to enjoy it. I really enjoy trying to take it out as often as I can.only problem is it gives me a hell of a time starting if its been sitting a week or so, and lately when I do get it started it runs very rough. Im going to have to sit down and go through the records (my dad kept EVERYTHING) and see exactlhy what he had done.Im just not exactly mechanically inclined....I call a towtruck when I get a flat!
