Show me your treasure found - Barn farm etc.

Well here is the barn and some of my finds.  Actually heard of this stash of goodies over 30 years ago but couldn't get access to see in the barns.  Finally last year I knocked on the door of the almost 100 year old gentleman and asked to see his cars.  Had to plead a little bit but finally got to go up to the farm on top of a mountain in WV and see a remarkable stash of "junk"!

The Model T is stored in a separate barn with the loft filled with bodies.  I wasn't allowed up there.  There were probably 3 or 4 model T's with the pickup being the most complete.  I have no idea what bodies are stored upstairs.  There we several A motors just dropped off and left where they fell under the eaves of another barn along with T frames.  In the big barn was a 41 Chevy coupe and sedan along with 2 41 pickups.  They were parked in the barns and left.

The stalls of several buildings are piled high with old car parts.  I have enjoyed looking at the pictures and trying to identify all the parts.

Yes, I have asked to buy some stuff and no there is nothing for sale.  I imagine that one day when I am no where around the parts will go to the junk yard for scrap.  At least I have pictures and got to see this incredible stash!

I am working on a couple of "barn finds" at the moment. One is a Ford T coupe (first photo) and the other is a Ford T touring....I think both are 1926. Both have been owned by the same guy forever. They are both quite original and both run....

Found this at a garage sale 3 blocks from my house last fall

What kind of engine is it for? Found parts are good sensation to. Anyway, all things about cars are great to find.

While it's not my personal find, my Grandfather had found a Panel Wagon and had big plans for it before he passed away.

My latest project, Been sitting for 25 years. For those of you that have no imagination, it is a 56 Chevy Belair convertible.

 Roger

That's quite an ambitious project. Not that I don't have any imagination but if it weren't for the trim holes in the door, it would be hard to tell what year Tri-5  it was. Is that all that was left after the rust was cut out?

Not necessarily a barn find, but I purchased in El Paso, Tx and had it brought to PA four years ago. Almost there.....

Found this car three weeks ago. A 1930 Pierce Arrow Series B Club Sedan. Padded leather roof with six wire wheels. Car was cut into a flower hauling truck right after the war. Parked in the 50's in very poor New England barn storage. Not much left. We picked it up last Sunday. Cut it up and parted it out over three days this week. Parts are now all on the shelf, the frame and body went to the scrap yard.

Say Ed. Does this have the right headlight bulb holders to fit Fred M's 29?

Think this is a 1935 Chevy...was never sure. Found this & a 1957 Chevy Ragtop ( covered in pigeon poop) on third floor of old cab company building in New Jersey November of 1976. Took 6 hours to lower down elevator shaft......both cars stolen week or two later ! Those are bullet holes in the '35.......

Old laptop having trouble posting lol

Here are two cars we lowered down an elevator shaft from third floor of an old cab company building in new Jersey back in November of 1976, Took six hours. Cars covered in pigeon poop. Thank God ragtop was up. Had to clear bottom of shaft of old tires, sinks and trash. Think yellow one is a 1935 Chevy ( with bullet holes ) but never sure because.......both cars were stolen the same day week or so later !! Got a call at work saying some "friends" were moving the cars for me !

A 60 Met Convertible burned a valve and the owner, a mechanic, parked it on a manure heap for 25 years.  There was one owner between the mechanic and myself and we did not know each other.  I spent a few years working on it and after I was about done I took it back to the mechanic for an inspection.  The smile on his face made it one of my more fun restoration days.   It went on to be a Grand Nat Sr.

Literally, fell into a pile of dung, and came out smelling like a rose!

We've found a few over the last 4-5 years. Two of them were less than two miles from our house.

'50 Chevy 3 window truck, had been in the barn for around 16 years.

'63 VW convertible body, had been in a shop for 30 years before the owner passed away. His brother listed it on craigslist and I was the first to show up. It's the most solid VW convertible I've ever seen. Unfortunately they used the frame to build a trike so I've had to source another rolling frame.

Our latest find is a '66 Chevelle four door. It was in a barn about a mile from the house, close enough that we pulled it home with my '51 Ford 8N.

A client of mine (Pierre) owned a "getaway" house on Duck Lake, south of Lansing Michigan. Across the street from the house sat an old garage on the same piece of property.  Pierre offered to take me and my sons out fishing and tubing on the lake one weekend about 5 years ago, then showed me this old car he owned in the garage across the street.  A couple of months went by and I found out that he was selling the house so I inquired about the future of the car and ended up making him an offer for it.

Well, that isn’t necessarily the end of the story.  I found out that when Pierre bought the house in the early 1990's the seller told him there was an old car in the garage and he could buy it with the house.  Pierre agreed with visions of restoring the car.  Well, that never happened.  But wait, there’s more.  When the owner that sold the house to Pierre originally purchased the house in the early 1970’s, the previous owner mentioned that there was this old car in the garage across the street and could be part of the deal. It was purchased with the house with visions of a restoration.

Not quite the end of the story……

I became the one to restore the car.  As I was removing the interior door panels a little tag slipped out from the bottom of one of the doors.  It turns out that this was the assembly process tag that followed the car on the assembly line as it was built in South Bend, Indiana. Here is a picture of that tag.

But then I turned the tag over and found a name and city/state written in pencil…Jacob L Boatman, Eaton Rapids, MI.  Mr. Boatman was born in 1861 and purchased this car new shortly before his 61st birthday. This little old garage, across the street from a house on Duck Lake is about 9 miles from Eaton Rapids, Michigan. So this car “lived” in this area its whole life.  I’m close to being done with the restoration.

how did you find them, go and knock on farmers doors?

I had met the owner of the '50 Chevy when I was out driving dad's '57 VW Bug and it cut off about two miles from home. I coasted it off the side of the road near a house and knocked on the door to see if would be OK to leave it there until we could come back to tow it home. Dad ran into him a couple years later, mentioned that we were doing restoration work and the guy said that he had something in the barn that we might be interested in. Took another couple years to talk him out of it.

The VW popped up og Craigslist for $700 one morning. I emailed the guy and got a phone call about 15 minutes later "to see if I was a scammer or legit". Went and looked at it on my lunch break, tried to leave a deposit but he only wanted a handshake. It was already loaded on his trailer from moving it from his brother's house so he offered to deliver it since it wasn't far from our shop. I had given my cousin a bare frame a few years back that he never used so I got it back and used it to get it rolling.

The Chevelle was in our neighbor's barn, he mentioned it once he found out we were into old cars.

1979 Avanti II. Left sitting in poor storage conditions after being brought to Canada from Florida. It was within a few miles of the Studebaker Canada factory in Hamilton.

The body has now been stripped, sanded and primed, but thats as far as I've got with it.

Another one I found a couple years ago. '66 short/fleet big window C10 with Z61 and Z62 option packages.  Owner had been driving it daily until two years before he posted it on craigslist.  Installed a rebuilt carb, gas tanks, and a battery and it fired right up.
