Just received another ebay part for my car.  This is the power window regulator for the rear passenger's side. 20170427_153812.thumb.jpg.0669dc52208e6558f68c18dc5567d852.jpg20170427_153825.thumb.jpg.8a58bb014e7e3b6d1766f34fb35036c3.jpgI now have both rear power regulators. I now only need 1 more front power window regulator to have the whole power window system!

Can't recall but do you have the four gang master switch that goes on the corner below the windshield too?

Suspect you be getting the wiring harness for the power window setup also.

Yes Sir, I have all switches (including 4-gang switch) and associated wiring harness for each window.  The only question is whether these power window sytems used relays.  I didn't see anything for relays in the electrical window schematic, but did see something in the master body manual in one of its diagrams.

Just the relay.  Don't know much about the circuit breaker.  Do I need the circuit breaker too?  What is it for?

You need a circuit breaker...keeps from frying you motors if the switch get caught in the up or down position.

Google "circuit breaker vs relay" for a detailed explanation.

Most of the time a relay is used to switch a circuit.  Your headlamps need a lot of current but you don't want that amount of current going through your headlamp switch.  So the headlamp switch activates a relay that can handle more current.   Your power seats and power windows need a lot of power and that power goes through a circuit breaker.  If the draw is too much, the breaker  "fails" and stops the current flow.   As the circuit breaker cools, it resets.

Thank you both.  I will look to get both items.  What does the circuit breaker look like?

You only need a circuit breaker.  There's no wiring provisions for a relay.  A heavy gauge hot wire from the BAT side of the fuse box to the circuit breaker

I might not be able to work on the Buick right now because of the project going on in the garage, but that hasn't kept me from searching for the parts I still need.  I just got these items in the mail today:

Make sure to open that relay up and check the contact points. I've never used a point file because I've heard they damage the tungsten finish, but a small piece of emery cloth, or very fine nail filer, should clean those points up. I always get odd looks when shopping for contact point cleaners because they come in packs of 20 for $3 in the women's makeup isle at the convenience store...

Just got this in the mail today.  A power window motor for the passenger's side.  Compliments of Ebay.20170628_162056.thumb.jpg.4e934d6a5b9f45e989c9186c944fedb2.jpgGot it really cheap and it works.  I really felt the need to get an extra one because one of my motors, I feel, will end up burning out on me.  So now I have 6 motors altogether.  3 passenger and 3 driver's side motors.  A backup for each side.

I saw my Dad today and he gave me this...this is an antique OLDSMOBILE vanity mirror that my Grandmother used in my Grandad's (then my Dad's) 55 Buick.  My Dad was telling me that he remembers my Grandmother putting on her makeup while using this mirror.  My Grandad felt it important to keep it in the car when he gave it to my Dad.  And when my Dad sold the Buick, he pulled this mirror from the visor and held onto it all of this time.  Now he has given it to me and the only fitting place to put it will be on the passenger's side visor in my Buick...just like my Dad and Grandad!20170715_214659.thumb.jpg.3d9315210a3ab6354bedc0b643b9479c.jpg20170715_214721.thumb.jpg.a539e658812e7cb562d971826f772ec8.jpg

There are vendors who will redo the silver and buff the glass. Look in Hemmings Motor News for the service. It used to be very cheap but for an item like that it is priceless.

Also used for your AC controls, with the pointer.

I didn't even think of that Doug.  So do both knobs on the AC controls have pointers?  I ask because I am also missing one knob from the set of AC controls I bought a while back.  Thanks again.

A little upset with my carport for my Buick.  We had a windstorm a couple nights ago and it did this to it...20171101_183711.thumb.jpg.f559b977831eb2b18c23801cfefc3df6.jpgI have it covered temporarily with an old tarp.  This will have to do until I get something better.

The original skins on those things are hideously cheap and thin. Buy you a heavy-duty tarp from tractor supply and you’ll be good for another 2 to 3 years.

Great minds think alike Mr. Lamar!  Had this thing wrapped up a few weeks ago.20180106_160307.thumb.jpg.4a57d8d08c4a4997dc5254441d112eca.jpg

Got this in the mail.  A front driver's side power window regulator.  Compliments of Mr Rich.20180302_182108.thumb.jpg.f86018560bcde4697b31c72bc45abd7b.jpgI had such a hard time finding one for a 2 door hardtop, so I settled with one that comes from a 4 door car.  The only difference between the two is the arm.  The bracket is the same.  I was told that it would need a minor modification to make it work correctly on my type of body.  I will still keep my eyes out for the correct regulator.  Nevertheless, I now have the complete power window system for my car!

Also, got this in the mail...a factory 4-way power seat for a small series 55 Buick.  Compliments of Mr Rich.20180303_142430.thumb.jpg.c8e78360978d5d90c89d344091a3caf1.jpg20180303_142514.thumb.jpg.c32a7996af23b73cf95b82814a59066f.jpg20180303_142445.thumb.jpg.5b943334d2979a58042ef83de1fdb25f.jpgEverything is there, but the seat is in rough condition.  Only one of the skirts is in decent condition.  One of the mounting feet is beyond repair and the motors need to be taken apart and cleaned.  This is no worry to me.  I have another source that is willing to trade me his good parts for my manual seat track.  So, this should work out well in the end.  I now have the entire power seat system for my car.

Those feet are bolted to plates that are welded to the floor.  Did you get the plates?

Sure didn't.   The floor pans on the car that this seat came from were rusted through pretty badly and I assume so were the plates.  Got any good pictures of these plates?  Maybe if I get a good visual of them, I could just fabricate a pair of my own.  Thank you Mr Willie.
