Looks like a pretty nice coupe.  Why the seller doesn't say the reason why it doesn't run in the ad is ridiculous.   More pictures would be nice!

Trust me, this is common.  I look at facebook marketplace sometimes 4-5 hours a day.

Why would an "Imperial" be a 298 cid 8?  Seems to me it should be 323 or so?  I am not expert on this era.  I'd want to know a lot more, like what C19 means in the Mopar nomenclature of series.  I had a C9 Airflow for 1936.  I believe 1937 Airflows were C10's.

Running or not, that's much too cheap. My BS detector is beeping very faintly.

Agreed.  If it’s legit it’s the elusive seller who didn’t do much research or an heir wanting quick cash from the estate

Since I had my 1946 MoToR Manual out anyway for a LaSalle question, I see that the 1938 Imperial Eight, C19, 128" wb, had a displacement of 298.6 cid, b&s 3.25 x 4.5, 110 bhp, but the 1938 New York Special Eight, C19* (asterisk not explained), also on 128" wb, had a displacement of 323.5 cid, b&s 3.25 x 4.875 for 130 bhp.  The Custom Imperial Eight C20 on the 144" wb also used the 323.5 cid engine.  1938 seems to be the last usage of the 298.6 cid Eight.

I called the seller of this car on Friday morning the call went to voicemail. Left a message and haven't got a call back yet!

There used to be a dealer in that area named Tom Watling. I wonder if it's his inventory being liquidated.

Agree, running or not, it's a suspiciously low asking price.

Mr. Watling of Turlock CA, passed away on June 30, 2023. The restoration and enjoyment of old cars was a major interest. He belonged to both the Franklin Automobile Club and the Packards International Motor Car Club.

I emailed the seller & told him I live nearby. I'd like to come & look it over. Haven't heard back.

You won't hear back. Scammers are looking for a e-transfer deposit on car they downloaded some pictures of. Not a car they possess.
