hello, here are photos from last weekend, we went to a parts sale on Saturday in the town of Caussade (tractomania).
Then the next day, Sunday, we went to a car show at the Chateau de la baronie in Lafrançaise in the south of France with my parents' 1941 Buick and with my 1978 Dodge Monaco police.

But to start, here are the photos from Saturday, in Caussade.
There were a lot of people, and a lot of pieces for sale.

This large house was built in the 19th century, therefore in the century of 1800, but I do not know the exact date.
In the late 1900s this large house was abandoned and it was restored in the early 2000s .

Yes it was a very good day, and there was good weather too, and there were several varieties of car brands .

I particularly like the Citroen SM.  It looks great in that medium blue color.   Got more photos of French cars; especially ones hardly ever seen here in North America?  I like seeing what the rest of the world has to offer.

Hello and thank you for your answer . 
At the time they built big houses because there was the whole family living together (great grandfather, grand father, father and son), as well as the staff (interior maintenance people, gardener, etc.). .. )
They were luxurious houses for rich people, and the heating of the house was done with wood fireplaces, and they probably went to look for wood in the nearby forests.
Now this house has been completely restored while retaining the period style (around 1800), but they have certainly changed the heating method to something less expensive.

What was being cooked in the big pot?

I was on vacation a few years ago and found some old car ads of which I purchased a few. The similarities are crazy. I have no particular interest in any of them other than they had great colours and content. I think I paid a couple of dollars for them. They came out of a magazine.

Last pic of the police car was taken last month when I was on a short vacation. This was at a 'dukes of hazzard' museum(gift shop really, lol) a replica of the sheriffs car. I thought of you and your dodge monaco when I saw it, thus the picture.

The photos you post and share are wonderful - most of the cars never made it to the USA so we have a great treat to see the wide variety that never made it to  North America.

The wonderful architecture of the large and small  buildings , houses, stores is absolutely outstanding. I love to look a that as much as the cars!

the pre war commercial vehicles are especially a treat as many got totally worn out due to lack of maintenance or were scrapped in the WWII era or shortly there after.

In the big pot they prepare " l'Aligot", it's an old recipe, it's mashed potatoes mixed with cheese, it's very good ! . And with that there was sausage and red wine .

The Dodges posters are awesome !  
I really like the 1959 Dodge as in the photo, here they are rare, I only know two near the city of Toulouse in France, one in pink and the other in blue.
When I was on vacation in America I saw a very beautiful yellow Dodge 59, abandoned in a hotel in the town of Barstow. I would really like to bring her back to France !
Woww very nice Sheriff Rosco police car !!  , in the Dukes of Hazzard series there was a police car the Dodge Monaco 1977/78 , Plymouth Fury / 1976/77/78 and also an AMC .
This Plymouth in the photo is magnificent ! Thanks for the photo !
I'll have to buy Sheriff Rosco's stuffed dog too !

I like to share what I see here in France on this forum . 
I live in the countryside and there are still many old houses and old farms and many are restored respecting the period style of their construction.
I have a friend who owns old Citroens, and he owns an old military Citroen truck from the Second World War, and it is original .

😋 Sounds delicious to me! A simple, filling meal that's easy enough to prepare and feed a crowd.

 

I have a neighbor who retired from teaching school and launched a second career as a personal chef. I'm going to send her the l'Aligot recipe. She speaks French so she'll have no problem following it. Her daughter has lived and taught English in Northern Italy and Albania so she's already learned to make a lot of European dishes.

The potatoes are very familiar. Can you tell me what type of cheese they are using? I only had a week of high school French before I transferred to Spanish (which I did not learn either, making it worse my sister retired as a Spanish teacher!)

 

My wife makes a very similar dish for Thanksgiving. It started by accident with her trying to spice up mashed potatoes with a bit of cheese. They ended up being about a 60/40 split and are very good. We call it 'wall paper paste' jokingly. They are now a staple at our holiday table.

Hello, the cheese used for this recipe is called  “ la tome ( fraiche ) de l’Aubrac ” . They use this cheese because once mixed this cheese makes "threads" because it is elastic. You have to mix it well and raise the puree to make the threads (as in the video). You have to do this several times.
Here are two websites, and we can see that they show that this cheese is made for Aligot . 
The recipe you made looks good too! , the principle of Aligot is almost the same, you have to make it with the " tome (fresh) cheese of Aubrac " for this puree with elastic thread

It's always interesting to see how people enjoy older cars throughout the world, thank you for sharing your photos with us here on the forum.  During the late 1950's into the 1970's Citroen marketed cars here in the U.S. though between the thin dealership representation and reputation for poor replacement parts availability, the ID-19/DS-19 were very much a niche segment.  For a short while, Citroen dealers handled Panhard Dyna Z sedans.  Needless to say, they found very little buyer acceptance, were considered a real oddity here.   Occasionally, one will turn up which causes much puzzlement and quite a crowd of those who've never encountered one before.

The several photos of late 1920s or early 1930s delivery trucks near the beginning of this thread were particularly interesting. They got me to wondering what such commercial vehicles were usually called in France? Some of the global English speaking world call a "truck" (the American word) a "lorry" in much of the rest of the English speaking world. Most Americans are not familiar with the term "lorry", however after so many postings on forums from English speaking countries around the world the term has become almost natural to me. So now I find myself wondering what such vehicles would be called in France?

Also, about what year would the "202" and "302" Peugeot automobiles have been? I really like the look of those. And the similarity in look of the green Simca is interesting to me. Any relation?

The 1929 Buick is an unusual model, not often seen even here in America. When that particular style first hit the market early for 1929 (well before the stock market crash), it wasn't accepted by most of the automobile buying public. The slight bulge below the beltline just didn't look right to many people, and several disparaging remarks became common for them. By mid 1929, Buick went back to the more straight earlier style which remained through 1932 when they and most of the American automobile companies began more streamlined styling overall (a bit behind some of European styling).

 

Again, from me along with many others here, Thank You so much for sharing the collector automobile hobby with us a half a world away!  It is so wonderful for us to see it. (As well as the beautiful architecture!)

Boy oh boy , seeing first pic with the 504. Does that bring back memories. 
my dad was big on French cars. Had them all and lots of them. He convinced my grandma to buy a new 504 in 78-79 or so. 
luxury to the 9th degree inside the cabin but, what a dog to drive. It’s by far the most gutless thing I’ve ever driven.

PS, didn’t see any R17 Gordini’s in your pics. I got my first speeding ticket at 16yrs old in one of those. Amazingly fast car for the era.

Having owned, restored, and campaigned several French cars (17 different Citroens at one time), I especially appreciate your photos.

My Citroen SM was an exciting toy, but the DS-21 Pallas and Break models were fantastic daily drivers, as well a comfortable and safe cross-country cruisers.

My 2-CV and my wife's Ami-6 always attracted attention, as did the Mehari.

The Peugeot 203 Cabriolet is one I've never seen in person, and I especially enjoy the 505 convertible - beautiful !

JUST OFF TULANE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS -

near a deli when I taught and was administration, as well.

I can probably recite 90% of the lines and can name 99% of the suspects! 

There are a couple versions of his car through the years. One thing I cant remember is if they used 2 or 3 cars. One of them is in a bit better condition than the other.

thank you for your answer , yes I was told that there had been Citroens sold in America but that the problem was that there were not many spare parts. And the buyers were afraid of not being able to repair it. 
I didn't know that Citroen had marketed Panhard Dyna Z  .

Indeed in France there are several names for “utility” vehicles (for construction site work, etc.)”.
Here are examples with French vehicles.

This one is a Peugeot Partner, it's a small truck, and it's called a " Camionette or Fourgonette " in France (the English name will be "Van").

 

This one is a Renault Master and the other is a Renault Trafic, the master is larger than the traffic, but both are called " Camion or fourgon " in France, (the English name will be truck).

 

 

 

This one is a Renault Alaskan (which is rare in France, it was made for export) and it is called "pick up or 4x4" in France, (I think you call it truck in America)

 

 

I also like the Peugeot 202 and 302, with the headlights inside the grille.
The Simca 5 was produced from 1936 to 1949, the Peugeot 202 was produced from 1938 to 1949 and the Peugeot 302 was produced from 1936 to 1938.
But the Simca has no links with these Peugots (if I'm not mistaken), the Simca is a small car and the two Peugeot are large luxury cars.
The Peugeot 302 is rare, the 202 is less rare but we don't see many of them either.

This 1929 Buick is very rare in France, it's the first one I've seen. This one was in a museum, the same museum where there was my parents' 1941 Buick, and it's two Buicks that were bought at the same time last year at the museum and we put it back on the road, it's two Buick .
