Is that not  the blue train in the row?

That is complicated.  Yes,  that is the car typically described as the "Blue Train",  but the actual Blue Train Bentley is a more traditional looking saloon.

Must make conversations  difficult for the owners of the "Blue Train" clones. Sure was nice to see both at Pebble Beach last year. Bob

And not just any luxury Packard: a 1932 Deluxe Eight 903 touring coupe by Fernandez et Darrin.    It displays every styling device Dutch employed to make his designs exceptional.

That shape looks vaguely familiar. Who inspired whom?

It was just a sophisticated design ethic in the 'air' in Europe at the time.  One designer inspiring another, producing wonderfully elegant custom coach-built cars.

Yes, it is but there is a lot of heated discussion regarding if that particular car is or is not the actually the "blue Train' record car and that the actual car is the sedan on the left.

Here is an interesting read:  https://simanaitissays.com/2013/11/12/barnatos-blue-train-bentleys/

One day, I will have to tell you all about the friend's "one that got away" in a 20/25 Sedan that he never bothered to order the build sheet for it when he owned (also a Bernato car) - now every RR that I touch we order the build sheet right away.  His best friend never ordered the build sheet for their 1925 PI Mulliner touring - I ordered it and found it was built for the Duke of Westminster - it was pages of build and service records.

I'm thinking he is trying to loosen the wheel locking nut or some such manoeuvre, perhaps trying to impress his girl? Car is jacked up, spare in wait? Regardless, I'm loving this whole series of old period photos, some wonderful shots from a classic era for great cars.

I never ever thought that this post would take off the way it has , geez........................very happy all of you are enjoying it and most keeping it within the scope of "period" photographs taken when the cars were new or near new. . Not a car 'of the period' photographed within the past 2 or 3 decades or so. Stay well all, Walt G.
