  1. Does anyone know where to get one of these? I am looking for one for a friend. Thanks!
  2. Searching for a good amber hood ornament piece for a 55 Chieftain. Thank you!
  3. There is also the aspect that if the expected amount of cars shows up, you would need an army of judges and paperwork handlers.
  4. This is very important. Retorque retorque retorque...unless you want your gaskets to fail.
  5. I shudder at the possibility that I may have to replace the cardboard in my 60 trunk. I know I can't find the right printed cardboard. I would, however, cover new cardboard with the correct looking material and call it a day. Or I might just paint it the "close enough" red hue and throw it in the trunk. At least it will look nice.
  6. I do use a light coat of red. Can't hurt!
  7. The only way to get away with not using gaskets is to have two absolutely flat surfaces that are mated together. I usually try them without the gaskets first, and typically don't have any issues.
  8. I bought a set for Brian Clark's 58 Super from CARS for $36. I had to trim them a bit, but look good.
  9. See photos. It was described to me as a 60, but I know that is not the case.
  10. Sweet! Glad he could help you out.
  11. I've had a knee issue for a few years now, and it is a chore to work over the fenders of these cars. Hyper-extending my left knee for any extended period of time sucks.
  12. Bill, I did this just before the BCA national meet this year to my 60. The top of the dash needs to be removed. To access some of the bolts, you need to remove the glove box and lower valance of the dash. The instrument cluster is removed as a unit (including the white/grey surround). There is a main harness plug on the back of it, as well as the speedo cable and clock power plug. Set aside a few hours for R&R. It's not that bad of a job...compared to a 58.
  13. I see crappy sale ads like this all the time. Doesn't surprise me.
  14. Sean is the best. He is transporting my 54 again to go to Birmingham.

  16. I would have given him his money back...minus 3 months storage
  17. Ok, Ted finally sent me a message today. Car is back off the market. Apparently, he was out of the country all this time...and had set someone up to take care of this, and a couple other duties while he was gone. He dropped the ball, and here we are. Ted is scrambling for transport. Finally, this car will be out of my driveway.
  18. After I sold this car the first time, the buyer disappeared after a month of communication. So I am listing again. Hopefully, it sticks this time. http://www.ebay.com/itm/252172292108?forcerRptr=true&item=252172292108&viewitem=
  19. Auction ended because of an error in the listing. Maybe he is correcting it.
  20. He bought by 54 when I had it on ebay at the end of July...but has yet to pick it up, and I have been unsuccessful in contacting him for the last 2 months. I think I'm just going to relist the car tomorrow evening. If anyone has his contact info, or knows him, please let me know. Thanks!
  21. I've never bought any intake gaskets that made me specify 2 vs 4 barrel manifold.
  22. The first part of a break-in procedure is to break in the cam and lifters. Once it is started, you need to bring the RPM's up to about 2000 and let it run like that for 20 minutes. Watch the oil pressure and coolant temp closely to make sure it doesn't overheat. If it does get hot, shut it down and continue once cool.
