  1. Hi Jon, thanks for chiming in. I verified that it was the carb by swapping my known good running Rochester onto the car, and it ran better than I had ever seen it run. I pulled apart the existing Carter 2840s and did the best I could to clean out the idle passages....still no dice. I have sent it back to the rebuilder to see if he can figure it out. Assuming I didn't miss anything with the cleanout, I think there is a bad or mismatched part inside the Carter. I just wish I would have figured out that it was the carburetor before I spent hours and hours trying to troubleshoot other areas!
  2. I seem to be having an issue with the Carter that is on the car now, and am sending it back to the rebuilder that took care of it in March. If he can't figure out why I am having idle issues, I am going to need to find a replacement. I would rather go with the original style Rochester, instead of the Carter that is on it now. Any leads would be appreciated.
  3. I have used Kepich exclusively for the last several years. I tried to find him when I was buying a setup for the 55 Pontiac I am working on, and couldn't find his info. So I went on ebay and found "Classic Exhaust" and gave them a shot. The exhaust arrived in good shape, and it appears to be well done, but I have not tried it out yet. Much cheaper than Waldron, too. Hopefully, not due to quality.
  4. So anyway... Got it over the weekend at work...read it...great stuff! I loved the letter to the editor. Reminds me of things I read on forums or Facebook comments.
  5. Wow RH drive 58...too cool! Looking forward to updates as they come
  6. Paul and Josie Dickson. We know that Paul is no longer with us, but Bruce is still trying to get a hold of Josie. I don't know what the package was. It was something they bought and were going to have shipped over to them, but got lost.
  7. Found out who it is...trying to contact them now. Thanks for your help everyone.
  8. I've heard good things about Waldron's http://waldronexhaust.com/cart/index.php?cPath=61_31
  9. Got it, thanks Roberta! I have no idea why he can't come on here ,but he asked me to help....so here I am
  10. I *think* that you can pull the inner cable out from the end where it connects to the transmission. I just did this on my 60, and it should be similar to yours. I'm working on a 55 Pontiac, and it is the same way.
  11. Bruce and Shirley Durband are the couple they ran around with. Bruce brought a 68 LeSabre on a trailer. He drove around a box truck/van...I think it said Family Traditions Construction or something to that effect. Bruce thinks the Australian couple had a 20's Buick.
  12. Yes, Terry. I'm not sure why. Maybe they found it in a pile of stuff. I know they just moved recently. Could have been forgotten.
  13. A friend of mine has a package they bought that was left behind, but he had lost the contact information and address of the couple that was riding with him to and from the event grounds. He is trying to get the package to them, but doesn't know names or anything that could identify them. Can anyone help?
  14. I got a really nice car cover from my wife-to-be.
  15. Took the 60 to Christmas morning at Mom and Dad's yesterday. It was cool out, but there is still no salt on the roads. And I wanted to get a good drive in before the monsoons started this morning. Already nearly 2" in the gauge and rising.
  16. There has got to be a good used one floating around somewhere that doesn't need repaired.
  17. Damn Pete, you should have just dragged it over here
  18. CA Pontiac Restoration got back with me yesterday, and he hoped to have some in a couple weeks. We will see how that pans out.
  19. Ames says at least 2 months out on this part.
  20. Looks like Barney Eaton...sending him an email now. I guess it helps to use the search function on here before posting a question
  21. I thought I remember seeing someone on here posting about rebuilding services. I have a 55 Pontiac that needs some serious help in this category.
  22. Most of the time I see a light gold cad plating. Seems to be no 100% accurate answer as to what they actually ended up as, once they left the factory assembled. The black parts of these cars were very sloppily painted, and was used more as a black-wash to cover everything up it seems.
  23. LOL I did the same thing. Our director sent me the message asking about it.
  24. Thanks. Hopefully, it is not on perpetual back order like CA Pontiac Restoration.
