  1. Don't give up the search. If you are willing to wait for the right one, then more power to you. Good luck. I will keep my eye out for something in your range.
  2. My right rear axle seal was leaking, so I ordered another one from CARS. Annnnnd the wrong one came. Now I have a car sitting on jack stands until I can get a local supplier to get the right one on Tuesday. But I was able to get the blue gunk cleaned off the tires before the 2" of rain started this morning...and managed to mount one wheel before I found the axle issue.
  3. Wheels and tires were dropped off to the tire place to get mounted and balanced...with the weights on the back/inside of the wheel. Thanks to my neighbor for being my errand boy today. I am stuck out of town at work all week.
  4. Here are a couple white ones...I know, not in your color realm, but just keeping the options open! http://baltimore.craigslist.org/cto/5169696045.html http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/5173040589.html
  5. Although not a project, one just popped up on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Buick-Electra-electra-225-/171894811596?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2805baabcc&item=171894811596
  6. There is a 4867 project on Facebook that someone has posted on the "1960 Buick Universe" group page. $3500 call txt 403458.0042
  7. No doubt, Lance. I may do a quickie just to get me through the stage before I do all the body work. It's pretty ugly under the hood.
  8. New tire came yesterday...new just like the other 4! He is sending me a prepaid label to ship it back. Problem solved. Wheels are supposed to be done this weekend...can't wait to get them on!!
  9. Since you will have the engine already out, moving the trans forward is no biggie. Otherwise, you will definitely need to move the rear end back or remove it for detail
  10. I booked at the host hotel, but also booked at Best Western. Nearly half the cost as the host hotel.
  11. In the Bugle, the rate is listed as $179/$259 per night. The person on the phone told me the rate is $189/$259. Is this a misprint or bad information on their side?
  12. I am going with red. I like the look, regardless of if it's correct or not.
  13. I took the wheels to the powdercoater today. $250 for blasting and coating. Sounded fair to me, rather than having to make a trip to the blaster, then to the coater. That is for all 5 wheels. I also found the right rear axle seal leaking. I replaced the left one after BCA this year...I guess they were both due.
  14. I'm usually the guy who looks for the easiest solution, and am typically not confrontational. So I told the guy I just want a new tire. He is obliging Also, it's no real skin off my back as far as trouble at this point. I am having the wheels blasted and powdercoated, so it will be a couple weeks before I need tires I think. Plus, I have a shipping guy I can just drop off the tire to, and he will get rid of it.
  15. It was Coker I contacted directly. Hence the reason for the "pay for a new one first, then I will credit the $$ back once I get it." Otherwise, had I not known the tires were shipped direct from Coker, I would have contacted Summit.
  16. I would love to make this car look good again. It would be a real stunner when finished.
  17. Since I ordered them through Summit, he is going to have me buy a new tire from them directly, then send a prepaid label to ship the old one back...and my credit card will be credited back the amount for the tire. Problem solved...I think.
  18. I see the paint is Fawn Mist, but what color is the top? I can't find any codes online for the top color.
  19. Welcome to the forum! The dreaded scissor top. If this is your first dive into replacing a convertible top, I would absolutely leave this one to the pros. You need to find someone who knows these tops well. They are very finicky. Great car, BTW. Also, no, you are not crazy for squirreling away the original parts. Someone will thank you in the future.
  20. I received a response from Coker this morning through email. I just now sent him photos of the issues. I see damage to the white wall, dry rot, and a 2007 date code...when all the other ones are 2014. I simply asked for a replacement tire. This one needs to go in the trash. I will await his response.
  21. I just sent Coker a message. I ordered them from Summit, but they ship directly from the manufacturer. We shall see...
  22. You are a very patient man
  23. So it appears the starter was trying to engage when the wire was grounding out?
