Terry Bond
In my haste to move on to the next subject, I neglected that I figured out what Im getting for Christmas. You see, this big box was delivered today, and my wife said it's my Christmas present. I note the box has "Dell" printed all over it, so I figure it's a new PC. Not car related you say? Well, it sure the heck is-cause I can now get on this forum any time I want to, and I can surf ebay till Im broke-and thats all car related stuff! Boy am I happy! 24T42
This isn't exactly a car related item but it can be classified as transportation, sort of. Barker's present this year will not be coming via Santa's sleigh as it weighs about 10 tons. It will come by low-boy tractor. You see our newest adition is a 1922 Advance-Rumely Steam Tractor. Since I am having trouble figuring out how much wrapping paper it takes to wrap a tractor, I guess it will just have a red bow.

Guest BillP
Donate my stuff to the guy on the front page of today's Wall Street Journal. For those not privy, a young man living in Mosul, Iraq admired and eventually bought an old worn-out '46 Ford from a neighbor. Scrounged and scoured for parts that were not only rare but banned because of evil western influence. Wanted to go to international antique car shows but his calls were hung up on on suspicion of his being a spy. On liberation day, used it to help move rare books to keep them from getting burned by marauding thugs.

Guest BruceW
What I'd want for Christmas is for Santa to put a 1946 Chevrolet Fleetline two door sedan in my dad's driveway. He is 76 years old and has had many cars but several stand out in his memories as his favorites. He was never an antique car collector. He always thought a car was for getting from point A to point B. He never had an interest in old cars before so we never did anything like that when I was a kid. It wasn't until after Di and I had joined AACA and Harford Region and mom and dad saw all the fun activities we were doing with our 57 Chevy truck and 31 Ford Deluxe Tudor that mom and dad became interested and bought themselves an old car and became members of AACA and Harford Region.I doubt Santa has a towbar on the back of his sleight to bring the Fleetline for dad so I will keep looking and hope one day that I can afford to buy one and present it to dad while he is still on this earth. Merry Christmas from Di and I to allof our AACA friends!

R W Burgess
Yes friends, the tree was beautiful, all dressed up with the lights, Christmas balls, ornaments made by the kids in Christmas past, everything was perfect....then it happened, the youngest came in the Rec room to say that a string of lights went out, <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> then another string, altogether 5 out of 6 strings were not burning, <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> and would not ever burn again. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> You know that Christmas song, "The Twelve Pains of Christmas"?, been there, done that!! And Ron Green wanted to know why I asked for help with my icicle lights this year. Car related? Had to drive my "Classic Car" to get 6 more strings of Christmas lights... <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Merry Christmas, everyone!! <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Wayne Ps, Forgot, I'm adding a new prelit Christmas tree to my list this year. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Guest HeyPop
Wayne.. Does the movie "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation" seem to have a place in your life right now? If you haven't seen it... watch it and you'll feel better. Ranks right up there with "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" as an all time feel better - have a good laugh when you need one the most movies.Being the only one in the house that's even slightly resembles a motorhead, I usually have to get the important stuff myself and leave hints for the neat little stuff lying around where the others can think they just accidently came upon a great idea for a Christmas gift for Pop. This year it was a pair of Ford coveralls, a Model A shop coat or a copy of the paperback, "Selling the New Ford 1927-1931" (I believe that was the title).Merrys Christmas to all the rest of you AACA and motorhead folks who frequent these threads. I hope you all get to visit with your loved ones over the next couple weeks and have a super time doing so.Pop1929 Ford Huckster1929 Ford truck chassis (not sure what it will be when it grows up yet)
Peter J.Heizmann
Mike, very nice post, not to mention, good "drop ideas around the house" tips.Had a great experience last Friday in Wrightsville, not far from you. I work for Donsco. Coming off the local bridge, traffic backed up. The local school children (kindergarten) were coming down to Donsco to sing Christmas carols. There were about 60 of them, with police and teachers helping them along. Each had sheet music with them. Sang one carol, then, off they went to other businesses/private homes of seniors. That sort of put me into the mood. One could not help it after seeing this...Sorry to detract from the thread topic, Regards, Peter J. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Ron Green
Wayne, your not the only one who had lighting problems this past weekend. After our snow yesterday I had the snow blower out and caught one of the lighting stringer cords that was on the bushes. Its amazing how fast a snow blower can strip stringers of lights from bushes and wrap them up deep inside the blower blades.

Guest
I dunno about that hint thing. I don't think it works.I'm pretty sure my Better 7/8 would have been suggesting I clean out the garage if she was getting me the Duesenberg I've been hinting about wanting. Guest
Howard;I've heard of Rocky Mountain Motor Works, but haven't ordered any parts from them yet. Are they pretty rliable? My Van is in fairly good shape, other than some mysterious oil leak. A little tiny bit of rusy on the wheel wells. I plan to have the motor rebuilt before spring and get the rust fixed and then a new paint job.My 68 Bug is another story. Whoever let me buy a set of wrenches ought to be arrested and locked away for good... I need to remember that I'm a driver, not a builder......... sigh. The good news is that my nephew loves to putz with old cars. Now if I can just ply him with enough praise to get him to "help" Uncle Kenny out .... 6219_Rules
Ken, I would love to hear about your VW. Is it a type 1 or 3? I had several including a 1960 VW Beetle (black and grey) as a kid (OK so my PARENTS had it <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> ), a 1978 VW AutoBuss - one of the best vehicles I have ever had, and a 1974 VW beetle - which some wonderful youth in their exuberance burned to a crisp in Dallas before going on to burn down a house. My parent's 2000 VW Beetle is a great little car but is only remaniscent of those previous cars in value and hardiness. Oh and you have those wrench problems too?? I buy tools and parts to go happily repairing only to give money to my mechanic to fix what I did. Hey its the effort that counts, right? <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />Thank God of kids like my son who knows what he is doing and keeps Dad away from the tools! Guest
Randall; The 68 is a Type I sedan, the 73 is a Type II Transporter Panel (cargo) Van with windows only on the doors, well, of course there is a windshield I LOVE my van! That really surprized me actually. I bought it just because the price was so good. I was shopping for parts for the Bug when I found the Van, my poor Better 7/8 was a bit perplexed when I called to say I needed to pick her up and have her help me get the "parts" home. All summer long I found myself making excuses to go somewhere so I could drive this thing. Someone along the line put wood paneling in the cargo area and added a folding rear seat. The ladies I bought it from got it while they lived in New Mexico and only used it for camping in the summers. So it had never been out in the snow (as far as we know) before coming to Minnesota a couple years ago. Still it has a couple rust areas on two wheel wells. Not bad, but they need to be fixed before they get away from me. It also has a latr 2.0 litre engine. I don't know how I feel about that yet. I think it came with a 1600, but the extra power is nice. still, it should have the smaller motor, still gotta think about that.I know I have pictures of the van somewhere, but right now I can't find them. If the driveway dries off, I'll back it out and snap a few.
