Cadillac Seville Milan Roadster

Built by:
Milan Coach Builders and Milan Convertibles, Inc.
4545 Industrial Street, Suite 5A
Simi Valley, CA 93063

Built on a 96 inch wheelbase, the Milan Roadster body measured 15.6 feet with an overall height of 58 inches. Conversion took approximately 50 hours to complete, and approximately 500 total were built during the four years the first generation Sevilles were built.

Retail cost was $39,500 and dealer cost was $29,995. A kit was available separately, that included most of the items necessary for a local craftsman to make the conversion. The kit was priced at $1,495 but it did not include everything necessary to make the conversion look the same as a "factory" Milan unit. True Milan Roadsters include a fiberglass insert behind the seats, color-coordinated to match the interior color.

Is that a Seville they turned into a convertible?

You haven't seen a Milan before? It's what the guy who drives a Tiffany buys his wife.

Proof that some people, in their quest for individuality, can take a near perfect design and RUIN it.

Now, a Seville coupe might have been interesting, and it's guaranteed Mr Mitchell would never have allowed it to be as ill-proportioned as these things were.

Milan also made a coupe, but just as badly proportioned as the convertible.

😳😬😱😭🥺

Some poor Seville was sacrificed to make those abominations.

My grandmother often said having money didn't necessarily mean having good taste. These Milan conversions have certainly proven her right.

Perhaps, but they made a lot of these Sevilles.  To sacrifice a few isn’t a big deal.  Remember when most new cars were designed as 2 door models. That changed for the Seville, which was always designed to be a 4 door.

Mercedes designed each series separately.

The Seville Milan was intended to be an alternative sporty luxury choice to compete with the Mercedes-Benz SL roadsters.  Unfortunately, cutting-down a sedan platform could in no way produce a nicely proportioned two-passenger roadster, just the compromised mess these are.  They did find acceptance with the same folks who bought the neo-classics mentioned, Zimmer, Tiffany, Clenet, just the thing for conspicuous displays of wealth at the time.
