John_S_in_Penna
It's very unusual to see a right-hand-drive Buick of any age. Maybe it would interest one of our Australian forum friends. Greg, you should edit the heading of your topic to note "Right Hand Drive." That, more than anything else, is worthy of attention! 1
Hudsy Wudsy
"Don't Cry For Me..." Maybe a little oblique, but I like it. It got my gray matter to moving this AM. 1
TAKerry
My first thought was 'Argentina'. After looking at the pics I was a bit confused until I read the comments.
Matt Harwood
Looks pretty small to be a Century... And since when is "never been in California" some kind of selling point? B Jake Moran
It's a total pass for me, not that I would spend $60,000 on an old car, but I would make a nice comment if it was worth the money. Seller is fishing.

Jolly_John
Maybe the 1939 Argentina BUICK's were "different", but I see at least a dozen things about this car that aren't '39 U.S.A. BUICK. However, I choose not to list them, since I'm certainly no expert on the '1939 BUICK's that were exported. John

Guest
Yes Matt, I thought it looked a little short as well for a Century but, like Jolly_John, I'm no expert on exports. The car looks very nice but the right hand drive is a total non-starter for me at almost any price. MCHinson
I don't know 1939s that well, but right hand drive would scare me off if I was interested (which I am not). I think the "never been in California" line is to reassure a California buyer that there are no California DMV fees due. If I understand it correctly, in California, you can amass a large bill due whenever a car that has been off the road is licensed again.

I moved from CA 12 years ago, and you used to be able to non-op a car there. But CA is always looking for new fees to collect, so who knows. 39BuickEight
Definitely a Special, not a Century. Wheelbase (and air filter assembly) tell the story. Edited January 7, 2022 by 39BuickEight (see edit history)

As post, above distance front fender to door and 248 vs 320 air cleaner. The Flint RHD 39's I have seen are the same as USA. AU & Canada built '39's have a few differences. But the maroon steering wheel, fender lights and stream boards with rubber stone guards on the back fenders are all the same no matter where built -assembled in my view. Putting the headlight pods on the wrong side is not uncommon. At that price and RHD will be a difficult sell in USA. Even hard if in AU at that price - condition In 2016 it was on eaby with US$75,000 buy now price. In 2014 on ebay with US$80K buy now. And better photos. Has an unusual non stock interior. Also have photos from 2009. May have been in South America then Edited January 7, 2022 by 1939_Buick (see edit history)
brasscarguy2
I just paid 50k for a totally restored 1941 Cadillac convertible sedan. I'm guessing the rhd drops the value at least 10-15k. There have been several 41 Cadillac 2 door convertibles from 25k and up recently. Maybe this one is a 25k car on a good day. brasscarguy
