Made a start on my new longer range fuel tank. Jude wasn’t impressed with a jerry can between her feet when we went for a drive the other day. I’ve increased its size to 68litres from 54litres. Making it out of stainless steel and fitting 2 baffles into it.
The original has been open to the elements for to many years.

So Matt, when do we get to see the video of you hustling down a dirt road?  Just read the latest Beaded Wheels about the tour that was about 600 miles and most on dirt roads. You guys are killer!! That's good above the equator.

Ahhh! Won’t it get dust on it if it goes down a dirt road, lol. we have about 150m of dirt road to our house and I hate that. It will happen one day I guess but I will admit I won’t like it much I’m to anal about my cars being clean.
There is some big rally’s over here I think the alpine rally coming up is about 900km.

What a great tone the car has and looked great. Well done Bud.....absolutely stunning.

Now I feel inadequate !.....thanks

Thanks Ian

Yours looks to be getting close to finished mate so won’t be long.
I still have all my interior and roof to make.

Did a bit of work underneath today getting the fuel tank fitted up and connected. Will put the bung in it tomorrow and fill it up. Hopefully it won’t leak. It pressure tested ok and I did the soapy water test on it.
Did a few other bits and pieces underneath also just tiding up.

Daisy can see again now.
got the indicators working this morning but having trouble with one of my taillights. Can’t get power to come through the connection, bit more playing around with it tomorrow should get it. Can’t expect every 90 years old part to work perfectly.

GORGEOUS car! Am I missing something? I was under the impression that cars from down under that have right-hand drive had the rumble seat step plates on the left side and the license plate on the right side.

Yes I agree with you there but the holes were in the right hand side guard. And the step that attaches to the chassis was a right hand side one. It was actually just cut off and the base of it was still bolted  to the chassis. I’m only guessing but I imagine it was an Australian delivered car as it doesn’t ever look like it had been a left hand drive.

Put a few bits of the upholstery in this morning that I’ve been working on. It’s probably not up to a professional upholstery’s standard but it’s going to have to do. Hopefully I’ll get a bit better by the time I get to do the front seat. Damn industrial sowing machine’s go so fast and I’ve already changed the pulley to slow it down a bit.

Any stitching through fingers yet?

I reckon that would hurt. My first Boss always told me never put your fingers where you wouldn’t put your “you know what”😂🤣

Hasn’t stopped me bashing the crap of my poor old scratches.

Ron fixed my sewing machine today all the way from WA.
Told me to get a tennis ball and stick it under the foot control. Well it’s like a new machine now I can actually control how fast it goes. Thanks Ronny.
I owe the dog a tennis ball now though. 9101711F-A298-45DE-B063-9ABCAF32842F.thumb.jpeg.0de418339c6b2f855336f680f65c30ac.jpeg

Manage to get my rail behind my front seat laminated up today. Should keep its shape quite well. Put some counter sink screws into the first lamination to hold it in place after it’s covered with leather.

Using springs? Mine has high density foam. Easy to make a bit thicker seat base for those vertically challenged and hasn’t sagged since done in ‘91.

I have rebuilt the front base and back to original but I’m using foam on the back seats. It will probably only be the grand kids or Dodgey Stu and John in the back. Lol 😂 And my brother, he’s pretty keen to go for a ride in the dicky seat. He’ll probably be pissed that they will only be foam now.

it’s a big job to make them from nothing.
The spring seats are great over big bumps you can’t beat them.

Don't you have any horses to give their hair for your seats down there? The Brothers would not approve of foam.

I’m allergic to horses I get itchy eyes and start sneezing when I get anywhere near them. Can’t build a car that I’m allergic too. 😂🤣

Finished the back of the seat where the hood attaches to. Seems to fit nicely and finishes of the back  E0018C0A-9B23-4416-AE4E-B22242D9FAA1.jpeg.aaac6c08c7cb02e7ed196e76625841ff.jpeg

Started on the rear seat base. So my trimming has been pretty challenging which I don’t really mind. I’ve watched lots of YouTube videos to help with learning. It’s one thing to do a little practice piece but when your trying to shove a whole seat cover through it’s a different story. Had a bit of trouble holding it all straight and even with the overlap pleats. So I saw on a video a fella using hemming tape to help seal a canopy top and hold it. So I tried that instead of trying to sew along the lines. 1FC921C9-0856-4983-A5E9-D805ED347465.jpeg.ced06f1889150a9dc91cc7b754c90390.jpeg5AD74890-86FB-4253-AA27-B1921EDAFAB6.jpeg.d1cd9866499f48f02380749fe7106eec.jpeg5AD74890-86FB-4253-AA27-B1921EDAFAB6.jpeg.d1cd9866499f48f02380749fe7106eec.jpeg

I found it a lot easier just to sew the leather to the lines on the foam and the just pull it over to the next bit of double sided tape.
The first pleat pulled pretty bad so I had to in pick it.

All sewn and pleats packed with kangaroo hair. 😂

Sewing the sides on with the piping and doing the sharp corner was very challenging but it came up ok for my first seat I think. I’ll staple it all on and fit it properly tomorrow. E843CB95-6493-447E-A133-2DCC96C78C21.jpeg.370c7f4bbac303942efd8d3c8a36121f.jpeg936EFDBE-F0B4-4AAC-9B56-43CD8A4F58F9.jpeg.5e2975c3880208568077778dd42e04da.jpeg
Luckily the side of the seats  are tight against the inside wall.

Matt, the interior is coming alone nicely. The color suit perfectly. I sure hope you never forget a screwdriver in your back pocket.

Thanks Doug I’m happy with it so far. Going to do the back of the dicky seat tonight.
Definitely make sure no screwdrivers in the pockets.

Got my rumble/ dicky seat all finished tonight. I’m pretty happy with the final product. Plenty of imperfections but overall ok I think. A trimmer would probably have a bit of a chuckle to himself but I’m going to save a bloody lot of money doing it myself and the satisfaction of doing it more to the point. 086CB8C9-32E9-43FD-AD9E-F33C1B3ACC91.jpeg.8fd17329d4d0393dbd53c4d26226bcf4.jpeg0C1FF23D-5B16-4E10-8AEB-C8002CBD6430.jpeg.ccf6c1f215fd836b39843cb1f8e605b6.jpeg

Ron’s tennis ball 🎾 idea has made it so much easier to sew now. I actually have a bit of control of the speed. I owe you one for that Ron. 👍

On to the front seat base over the weekend and hopefully by the end of doing them I’ll be ready to tackle the hood.
