Typical of cars with the factory wood steering wheel - the horn bar is broken off.

Max Balchowsky's car of Old Yeller race car fame. Old Yeller had a Buick Nailhead, and was basically home built by Balchowsky and his wife. The car managed to smoke a lot of Corvettes and Cobras in SCCA competition back in the day. Balchowsky was also famous for being the one who modified the Mustang and Charger in the Steve McQueen movie "Bullitt", and oversaw their maintenance and repairs throughout the film. He was a Buick guy thru and thru, however, and I have heard that he had a "back door" access to Buick Engineering, and they would send him experimental stuff to test on his road racer. Pretty cool Riv, but it seems it's changed hands a couple of times over the past few years.

If this is legit Max’s car this will be fun to watch. I’d need some real documentation beyond that repro dash plaque and a business card, but i dig it. Love the period sunroof.

Definitely a reproduction name plate. The originals were engraved with a definitely recognizable script, which actually dug into the metal and exposed the underlying base metal.  The repo in this car looks like it has the owners name printed on it. Best to do that research before biting down too hard.

It looks white to me as well but it doesn't look like the factory Arctic White.  It could be the lighting though.

This is an original paint chip chart. I think the colors are correct for 1965 Rivieras. Of course, photographing the chips, probably loses a little bit of the actual color, but, you can probably use it to compare the paint.

Sitting at $60,000 with less than three hours to go.

All the action on Bring A Trailer auctions happen in the last five minutes. I suspect you could just list the car for six days and 23 hours, open up the bidding for the last hour, and save everybody a lot of time…. Lol.

The half at the front, half at the back rule usually stands—and it did here. What happens at BaT (because of the "magic" two minute extensions every time someone bids) is that the endgame is very compressed.
