Former National AACA President Jim Raines

It is with extremely heavy heart that we report that former National AACA President Jim Raines passed away suddenly last night.  Jim was one of the really "good guys" and was beloved by many.  Jim and Sharon have stayed active in AACA since Jim left the board and he has been a very important part of our National Awards team.  Anyone that met Jim will remember his smile, lack of socks and good nature!  He will be missed by a legion of friends.  As soon as details on arrangements are known I will report them here on this thread.  Please keep Sharon and their family in your prayers.

Jim had already been helpful in our planning for the 2016 Sentimental Tour. We were supposed to get with him this Fall and talk through our plan.

He and his big smile will definitely be missed. All our prayers for Sharon and the family.

Jim's smile, humor, wit, and forthright comments have been an asset to AACA, as well as to those of us who were fortunate enough to be counted as friends. At dinner just two weeks ago on the AACA Vintage Tour - who could possibly have dreamed this could happen? Sharon and all their family are in our prayers.

Thanks Art and others for attending the funeral.  We have lost a "good guy" and a good friend to so many.  Jim was able to navigate the multiple personalities of so many different types in the club and always be there to listen and offer advice.  He was a gentle soul and had a huge heart without being boastful about what he did.  Jim's work in the community was always downplayed by him and some of us even did not realize the extent of his volunteerism.  There is a saying "Deeds not words speak I" that seem apropos in this instance.  His gracious smile will be missed.  Several of us drank shots of Jack Daniels in his honor or the more sensible of us did not wear socks  to the funeral home instead! :)  Both traits of the big guy!  He was probably laughing in both instances from above!

Glad everyone made it home ok.  It was a very moving service.  I'll forever remember the time we served together on the AACA Board.  Jim and I often traded phone calls dicussing stuff.  He was one of those guys you could confide in, talk with, and bounce stuff around with.  I' can still here his voice in my mind and fondly recall riding with him and Sharon on tour.  He will be missed by many!
