  1. Others may correct me, but I don't think your data plate shows any options. The option codes start on the top row and continue to the second row. I think there was an X or number below he option field if it was factory installed. The options you listed on your car could have been factory offer accessories installed by the dealer. There was increased profit to the dealer this way. Many cars at this time were ordered by the dealer with no options and what the buyer wanted were installed at the time of delivery.
  2. I would focus on the tires and wheels if it is shaking the whole car. Since you don't feel it through the steering wheel I would look at the rear tires and wheels. How old are the tires? I would have them balanced and checked for runout. I would do this on the wheels that are on the car or you will never know if it is the tires or wheels. Start simple. Tires are the first thing to check before you start spending a lot on other parts.
  3. Your Winsor should be a 6 cylinder car with the "underdrive" transmission. This transmission is a four speed unit, with the "low" gear position locked out. The second gear position is the Low Range. The transmission starts in first and shifts to second when you lift your foot off the gas. The third gear position is High Range. The transmission starts in third and shifts to fourth. Fourth is drive, not an overdrive. You should not slip the clutch to start out. Depress the clutch, move the gear shift leaver to the range you want and release the cluch with you foot on the brake. You're in Drive now. Drive it like an automatic. Only use the clutch when you need to move the gearshift leaver. Now about that knob. THIS IS NOT AN OVERDRIVE KNOB! It is spring loaded and you must continue to pull on it to keep it pulled out. It locks out the freewheeling used in the lower gears of each range so the car can be push started in an emergency. Without pulling it out, the engine would not turn by driving the rear wheels. Your owners manual and the service manual state that the knob should NEVER be pulled out while the car is moving or damage to the transmission will occur. If you read the NOTE on the second page of "SpinneyHill"'s attachment it does a very good job of describing the use of this knob. This does not apply to the 8 cylinder transmissions. They are different although they drive the same way. Yours looks like a nice car.....Enjoy the drive.
  4. You can judge and show at the same meet, however you need to have someone who really knows the car be with it to answer any questions from the judges. I think you would want to be there for the first judging.
  5. Yes, following the meet you can write Herb Oaks, VP Class Judging and request the areas that your car received deductions. Enclose a SSAE for a reply.
  6. I think the smaller one goes on the glove box.
  7. An old joke when dimmers first moved off the floor was that the idiots can't get their feet high enough to dim the lights.
  8. That should just be welt molding, but looks wide for factory. Loosen the fender bolts and it should lift out.
  9. New Bern, NC AACA Meet from Charlotte, 525 miles round trip on bias ply tires. Won her Repeat HPOF.
  10. Disable the battery and wait 30 minutes. The capacitors may still have a charge.
  11. Does anyone have a source for the molded lower radiator hose for a '60 Invicta, 401 without AC? All I'm finding is a universal flex hose. Thanks
  12. From all you have said, I would go with DPC and be happy to win an award. All of my cars are DPC or HPOF and I love every award I get with them. My car is the trophy and the award is the gravy on it.
  13. I'll be at New Bern also. I'd like to talk to you as well. Been there, done that. Ask around for me and someone will point me out. I'm bringing a '60 Buick in HPOF. Dave Bowman Hornets Nest Region, AACA
  14. Either a Roadmaster or Super bumper will work. Both are the same.
  15. Actually it's stainless steel, that's why it's still shining.
  16. Need to tell us more. Roadmaster and Super have a wider bumper than Century and Special. What do you have?
  17. Sometimes the typo's in the ad are just as bad............67 Buick Electra with climax control......

Those may be common to the Lincoln Mark III. Contact the Lincoln suppliers such as Lincoln Land in Clearwater, FL.
  19. You can change your decision after the card is mail in, but you will have to call the National AACA office to do it. It sounds like DPC is the best choice for your car based on you description. Have fun at the show and welcome to your first AACA National Meet.
  20. I like to start with basics. I agree this top should be easy to lift. I'd first check to make sure the springs are there. Second, check to make sure there are not power top cylinders attached to the top. It's possible that the power top went out with the prior owner, so he call it a manual top. The effort you went through to get the top up sounds like a non-working power top.
  21. Nick, You have some very nice, rare cars. I think you will enjoy the hobby much more if you get them out an meet like minded people. Twenty-two years of hiding them is too long. Get them out and meet some people and share your cars. You won't regret it.
  22. Matt, Beautiful car. Great to meet you there.
  23. I recently went to look at a 37 Cadillac that was never produced based on production figures. It is body #3. Story is 12 were produced. Number 6 is known. No one knows where the 12 came from, even GM Heritage has no numbers. Is it "Rare" or just "Unique"? Trying to buy it so no more details now.
