  1. Lots of tests show that a 50:50 of acetone & automatic transmission fluid is just as good if not better. That is just about the only thing that I use for stuck/rusted bolts.
  2. My wife likes sports cars. That is why she has a Synergy GREEN Camaro & a spare car which is a Corvette.(silver). My interests have mostly been, "If it does not have wood wheels, it does not count".
  3. When looking for common sense in broadcasting as in many other endeavors, common sense seems to be uncommon. Even look at many shows involving cars, even current ones. Using seat belts is the exception rather than the rule.
  4. We take our oldest grandson who is now 7 on tours with us. Anytime he is not in school and a tour happens we try to schedule him with us.
  5. Many of the paints have isocyanate in their formulation. For those of us old enough to remember this is the toxic material that leaked out of the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal, India that killed an estimate of 3,800 persons. Use a respirator.
  6. Here is an article on Otto engines from Old Iron magazine. https://www.gasenginemagazine.com/gas-engines/oldest-otto-4-stroke-engine-zm0z22aszawar/?utm_source=wcemail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=FCM GEM eNews 11-22-22&wc_totalkey=AxNzrs4rWfM61_o-v6dKHwxhC1BvkozzLmAdcpw2LzDiNNNfqEyWiXHXC0TO-4j_mdEb9yMfcISvh08sQIbwvA
  7. I scrapped two Corvair station wagons a few years ago. I could not even sell them for parts. Probably toasters now. One '61 & one '62. The '62 was a Windsor built car with the lowest known serial number at the time. I think it was something like 000201.
  8. If the cruise just drops out, I would change the brake switch. Known problem in that era of vehicles. Cheap possible fix. https://www.autozone.com/electrical-and-lighting/stoplight-switch/p/acdelco-stoplight-switch-12450036/617744_0_0?cmpid=LIA:US:EN:AD:NL:1000000:IGN:8366887415&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4OybBhCzARIsAIcfn9nliw6TnJAEnCKlrr86kqJ-OHBSxaWhzLoEeCWIOYMMziT1zc-MSW8aAq7XEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
  9. What ever you use, make sure it does not have a sharp edge. I would suggest using these seat belt anchors.
  10. You should be able to go to a salvage yard and buy the space saver spare tire. I would just call ahead. Do check the bolt pattern before buying. They probably have a jack also.
  11. Just post what you have and if I see them, I will correct them.
  12. I have an old pin set that was originally used as a carb adjustment kit from about 1985 and older. I do not use it much any more, but it sure is handy when I do use it.
  13. When I travel with the trailer, I always carry 1. A battery powered impact wrench. I currently have a 20 Volt DeWalt that I keep in the truck along with a socket set. 2. Some wood so if a trailer tire goes bad I can "ramp up" the trailer to change the tire quickly. 3. At least one spare tire and in my enclosed trailer I have two spare tires. In my enclosed single axle utility trailer I keep an inexpensive floor jack that I check periodically to be sure it works.. As a side note, I have changed all of the lug nuts on my trailers from the open end style to the closed end so they will (should) not rust to the studs. I also always check the tire pressures in the tires prior to going on a trip and make sure they are set at what the sidewall says they should be.
  14. A friend has one on his 1923 Buick that is exactly like yours. I would guess it was an aftermarket accessory product.
  15. You need to go into a photo editing program and turn them around and save the changed photo. Also, when posting photos there is a maximum size. If the photo(s) are over that size you will need to put them through a photo editor to reduce the size of the photo file.
  16. You should be able to buy nichrome wire and rewind it. You will need to find the diameter of the original wire and buy the same diameter so the resistance would be the same. Also, wind it the same number of turns.
  17. I would say that they are from the early 60's to the 70's because I remember that the method of attachment was in that era.
  18. I am very judicious in loaning tools and the same for borrowing. The number of persons that I will loan a tool to can be counted on one hand and the same goes for borrowing. Interesting, the same persons on each list. Also, I do not loan money, period. A couple of items that I will never loan is a paint sprayer and a chain saw.
  19. I just had a 10 point walk through our front yard last week. IMO, they are overgrown rats. They eat everything in sight.
  20. I put what ever the sidewall on the tire says is the maximum tire pressure.
  21. Nothing like a $50.00 barely warm rubber chicken dinner.
  22. I always use safety glasses and hearing protection. Habit picked up working in the manufacturing plant. I use hearing protection and safety glasses when I cut the grass, use the weed eater, chain saw, leaf blower, table saws, anything loud and noisy. My wife has pictures of me cutting the grass almost 50 years ago with ear muffs on. Back then people would stop and ask if I was listening to the radio or something else. I keep a pair or two in multiple places in the house, shop, and even a pair in my truck. I even have a pair of noise cancelling ear muffs that I take any time I am flying anywhere on a jet. I just upgraded to 32 db hearing ear muffs last summer. They are great compared to the older pairs that I have.
