Sounds like your friend is reinforcing Craig's dirty gasket story, not negating it. Anyway, no Q-Tips to be found in my tool box. Count me out. 😆

I think by AWOL he means missing

Auto Agent, In answer to your question, the addition of dual edelbrocks is very popular with those converting from a single 4 bbl.

Your Gran Sport has aftermarket carburetors. Your numbers match everywhere but the carbs, apparently.

64 Rivi Carburetor on 401, Rebuild or Install a Fuel Injected?
gungeey replied to atencioee's topic in Buick Riviera
This is the way. Spin the engine 8-10 seconds to load the bearing surfaces with oil. Set the choke by putting the accelerator pedal to the floor and releasing slowly. The carb bowl is now full. Car will start right up. Every. Single. Time. -
Finally got one, by the time it delivers it will be 4 months. 529 shipped.

Moose, did you find a solution? Also, you are certainly free to post questions that have been answered in the past. Perhaps others have a fix besides than those recorded that may better suit you. Or maybe there are newer members that have not seen the older posts: they might have something insightful to add or a fix not yet described. Just because somebody did it doesn't mean it can't be done better/easier/cheaper/quicker. Or for that matter, that it's the only or best way. Beautiful car and great color combo, by the way. Steve

1964 Riviera 10+ year old gas------does gas tank have a nut to drain?
gungeey replied to emmd61's topic in Buick Riviera
No drain plug. Use a hand operated siphon pump only. Not electric. It's not a huge operation to drop the tank Its your best chance to clean it out. If you take it out remove the sending unit and put a length of chain in the tank. Start shaking. Rinse and repeat. -
Steve what is the severity of your vibration? Is the whole car shaking? If you put a cup of water on the dash is it spilling or is it a ripple? all the nailheads I've owned have a jiggle here and there. They are not modern day engines. Steve 9236

1965 Riviera trunk lid acoustic insulation options?
gungeey replied to DShoes's topic in Buick Riviera
Your rattling might be clumps of dried up glue between the outside and inside trunk panels -
found one place: Sanders Repro Glass about 450 shipped, any recent dealings with this or any other company for a tinted windshield? Thanks, Steve
-
Mr AG it looks like you have a 63 with red interior what color is the outside may I ask? Thanks, Steve

If the guy has it working properly off the firewall as opposed to under the accelerator rod as original, it's slick. He even has a little roller bearing in the middle of the clevis pin. Slick. Maybe he did it to run that heavy spring along the intake where the dogdick would of been originally installed. Just slick. That is all. I didn't think a switch pitch was referenced?
-
If that works it's pretty slick

Riviera 1963 blowing oil filters when cold start
gungeey replied to Ocotillo Bandit's topic in Buick Riviera
Maybe the inlet tube threads are f'ed Bad batch of filters? Pressure relief valve -
loosen up the alternator and pwr steering pump. they will pivot and relieve the tension on the belts for removal You also have to remove the shroud and fan, the radiator, disconnect coolant hoses and transmission pipes at the bottom. That's gets you access to the area

Looks great Bob, and I think digital pictures would highlight any imperfections as compared to eye. By the way, recovered with the thickest vinyl I could get as there were so many cracks and splits needing hiding. It's been in and out plenty with no problem. It's nice and snug. Dont even have to screw it in.

Looks like a lot of silicon and putty under there which might be a hint at a surprise lurking underneath. Hopefully not.

Jim took paypal and sent to me priority, CD's were here in 3/4 days. 1 minute effort on my part...he even sent tracking LOL
-
Every time the CD's are mentioned I say to myself "Been meaning to get them, Steve, so get them" and always get sidetracked. Finally did it and just wanted to do a simple embellishment on Jim's behalf. I was expecting backyard copies and instead they are nicely labelled. I would highly suggest you all do the same. I think they were 40 or 50 shipped?

Following along, I'm having as much of a good time as you and no bloody knuckles LOL
