  1. Read my above post. The Buick 9 3/8ths is ALL BY ITSELF. NO OTHER GEARS FROM ANY OTHER UNIT WILL FIT & FUNCTION.
  2. The car is NOT always in high stall just when idling in gear at a stop light OR when you put the throttle down more than 3/4's of the way. In low stall, as in cruising, the stall is normally ONLY 150-200 RPM's faster so fuel economy should not be affected by ANY appreciable amount. Also the smaller diameter converter is lighter & helps the engine spin up faster when you 1st. step on it. Many advantages where you can kinda have your cake & eat it too.
  3. I think he means the color of the engine Tom. Tom T.
  4. Agreed. AND, with 3.23 you don't need to change the carrier. I rode around in my '64 Riv. I bought new in '64 with 3.90's for years. I driven fairly long distances with these gears but, nowadays being the older guy with gray hair driving at 55MPH in the 1st. lane you get the "Stares". I'm doing more cruising than when I was younger & longer trips. The 3.07's the car came with are fine. For the longer trips I wouldn't mind 2.72's. I also had 4.45's installed at one time. It wouldn't make it to the end of the 1/4 mile before it ran out of RPM's. When & IF I build another engine to race it will be capable of 6500RPM's plus & the 4.45's will go back in. Tom T.
  5. 1-NO, specialized tools are nec. & you NEED TO KNOW how to do the swap & the nec. procedures. It's not just plug & play. Most came with a 3.07 ratio. A change to 3.42 would need another carrier. A posi was an option & many DID NOT come with them. 2-T/A ONLY has gears for the 8.5" rears & not the 9 3/8" gears. The ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET THE 9 3/8" GEARS IS USED. A posi 3.42 complete can cost from $500.00-$800.00 + USED
  6. Assuming you have a Riviera since your on this forum. WHAT YEAR????
  7. That was an answer to 65VerdeGs's (Alex) question about the door not staying open. Tom T.
  8. Sounds like the "Spring" & arm is missing. If the piece that holds the spring has fallen off you will more than likely need another hinge. Tom T.
  9. How about a '64 or '65 shaft. I believe they are a bolt-in. Anyone have ANY INFO on this??? Tom T.
  10. Make sure to remind them that the shaft is OUT OF PHASE FROM THE FACTORY & to repair/balance it the same way. Tom T.
  11. That's as good as or a BETTER solution Tom. Haven't thought about it. Can't think of everything. That's what this forum is ALL about. Tom T.
  12. 3921-S is the correct number. Thank you Zimm 63 for the plug. Tom T.
  13. IF in actuality it is just the yoke that installs into the tail of the trans I would locate another. I'm sure someone has a GOOD one lying around from a used shaft that's serviceable. IF it turns out to be one on the shaft itself. Besides dimpling & in conjunction with Red Loctite would be a suggestion for cheating. Since it's a 63 with a DynaFlow I don't think you will be doing any racing or VERY spirited driving you should be OK. Just keep this in mind. Also, use solid u-joints NOT ones with grease fittings in them. Solid joints are stronger. Tom T.
  14. AND, a '60 Buick ambulance
  15. Makes things easier if you remove the A pillar trim 1st. Then you won't have to worry as much about scratching.
  16. ANYTHING/EVERYTHING worth it's salt takes time especially when your paying attention to details.
  17. Just dashes by the time your done with shipping etc. can run close to or just above 1K. The Turbinator just installed a dash topper in his '63 Riv. & is satisfied with it. The ONLY problem was that it had the vinyl pattern for a '64-'65 so for his '63 was wrong, but he was satisfied with what he got. I'm sure if he reads this he will comment. Tom T.
  18. http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/64-wildcat-with-rare-factory-gauge-package-found.309540/#post-2573543 this is what I was talking about, looks stock
  19. We're hoping the Casket doesn't come too soon. LOL
  20. I seem to remember something about the tint on one. Something about the tint being the same all the way across which made it look weird.
