  1. would have thought that rules out most of the commonwealth because they would have been miles when the car was built Can't be many countries that were RHD and KM in 1928
  2. I'm quarantined from Hershey by about 10,000 miles of ocean There's been some pretty nasty stuff that's not Covid that was floating around here during winter that took plenty of our teams out at work - we've had our 4th shot (not yet a lizard person either) and will organise the omicron booster once we're eligible
  3. There is a great car museum in Reims that I believe runs events
  4. That’s one of the things they say here after bushfires, if you don’t need to be in the area they prefer you not to be because there is still a lot of danger even after the effect. Car accidents post weather events are very common
  5. I run Penrite Shelsley medium in the Cadillac which is something like 25-70 They have a light as well which is 20-60 Their heavy is 40-70 which would be for pretty specific applications I would have thought (they recommend it for sleeve valve engines for instance) Also has extra zinc added
  6. I think there was a fair amount of safe than sorry going on at the time, especially in areas that weren’t easily seen
  7. Agree 100% - it's great to know the conclusion for these types of threads
  8. Maybe they standardised on year rather than model year?
  9. Seems like that’s about the standard fare for most stuff in the south of England, we paid that much for some really trashy places that were little more than a bunch of silk screens and “similar to” items that my wife wanted to see
  10. Little hard to see what’s going on but my spring is coming off the pedal arm, but I haven’t seen any reference as to what is correct I’ll try and get some photos when I’m next up with my car
  11. Used to be used here extensively, especially in ford falcons as Taxis The Barra was available as a factory gas option and people ran modified turbos with 1000hp on gas… I also recall on ebay there was a period lpg carb
  12. Agree, we've had an 6v optima battery on a 26 buick that's used periodically for about 8 years now, and it's worked great - as long as there is gas in the carb it starts instantly hot or cold
  13. Having moderated on other forums it really is a challenge to get the right balance, removing posts that are mixed between other posts is often time consuming and then makes posts referring to those posts not make any sense. There has been a few instances where what you describe has happened and I think they acknowledge that the forum did something they weren't expecting either
  14. It's an interesting car but the price is hard to gauge as there is a lot to do that's expensive Not sure about that, there is a fair bit that's been messed with already - e.g. the seats aren't right, the dash is some weird put together of a type 59 and type 61 I'm actually dubious that this car hasn't been slapped together quickly to sell it, there are things like the spring to the accelerator pump, missing flywheel cover, missing plugs etc It's a lot of money to put this car right but would be a fun project for someone at the right money
  15. My 22 Cadillac has an exhaust style heater in it that is disconnected but I have the bits for it, basically there is a butterfly valve cut out in one of the exhausts and a lever on the floor with a ratchet mechanism of how far you want to open it At least in the Victorian climate I don't really need it, there is enough heat coming off the motor to warm up a closed car
  16. In 1922 cadillac were still washing everything with Kero and gas, so it wasn't just a shade tree technique
  17. Manufacturers seemed to be pretty optomistic on the top speed... at least some things never changed
  18. I imported my car from the states... as it turned out it had issues but there is no way I would have been able to tell even if I had inspected it Pretty damn certain they knew about it though
  19. Have a look at hemmings to get a base line of what you get for similar money else where based on what you say you're looking for (photos are trash on this one but from what I can see in the pictures it seems to match the description) https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/cadillac/unspecified/2579854.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/mclaughlin-buick/unspecified/2572858.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/marmon/unspecified/2596765.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/buick/country-club/2610644.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/packard/526/2600653.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/studebaker/big-six/2597563.html
  20. and if it was in the museum during those years some of us might even have photos of it on display
  21. I’m not sure that a picture exists of the correct placement on my type 61 someone had just looped the spring around the oiler, I put mine one a bolt Do you have a photo of what you have currently
  22. I'm also not sure how available they would be either, I don't think I've ever seen the Cadillac unit up for sale that was in use for about 10 years The Cadillac unit would also be a pain to adapt
