Will we see a return to the 80's Econo Box Factory Hot Rods?

I have a white VW golf R stationwagon, the ultimate in sleeper cars but certainly not economy in any stretch - you're talking well south of 20 MPG when pushed and highway is around 30-32 MPG Don't know if the GTI does that much better and with WFH the consumption hasn't really bothered me -

My Cadillac’s brakes were really badly adjusted when I got it and you had the choice of locking up the wheels or doing nothing. After some trial and error we got them to be very good for the speeds you should be doing in the car (they are huge after all)

Need to buy 6/12 volt battery charger - recommendations?

Been happy with my noco on an optima 6v red top seems to do a good job One of my period books shows you how many lights to add to a circuit on mains to be able to charge your battery… seems safe -
The Buick’s of that era are a good choice, good parts availability at a reasonable price and very active club. They sold well at the time because they were a good balance my 1922 Cadillac will happily run at around the 45mph mark with squirts above that and the brakes when properly adjusted stop it ok. They were rubbish when I first got even though the lining had been replaced, just that far out of adjustment

Now you’ve had it running it for a bit after cleaning things up like the points, have you looked to see if there is any abnormal wearing on them (or the distributor track)? what do your plugs look like? -

We have lake goldsmith here in Victoria, which has a lot of the older steam and early stationary engines https://www.lakegoldsmithsteamrally.org.au/rallies.html They also have a working steam shovel that they demonstrate Definitely worth coming to if you're into early industrial and farming equipment -
You spelled it wrong, I think you mean mums! 😂 My wife and I had a great day out watching light aircraft taking off from the local airport with a pub meal

Having done a stint in public service, most of the reason things end up stupidly complicated and slow is because of politicians rather than employees - it’ll be some scheme, carve out etc that makes things needlessly complex (oh these type of vehicles in this region should get a discount because it’ll help my electorate chances, that sort of thing). Being government you didn’t have the luxury of just ignoring it like you might as a private company so you end up with systems and processes that are very complex -

Of course they never do, and people bemoan that we don’t make anything any more when execs were more than happy to chase a few bucks overseas before the company over there goes into business for themselves and puts the original company out of business…

You might need to be more specific about what you’re looking for and get the moderators to move your post to the looking for parts section

They have been in use here for years, have been for a ride along in one of the tech demo in a 5 series (our highway patrol cars now we don't make anything locally) They literally scan everything they drive past for current registration status and flag anything that isnt current and alert the police
