  1. Agree 100% - it's great to know the conclusion for these types of threads
  2. Maybe they standardised on year rather than model year?
  3. Seems like that’s about the standard fare for most stuff in the south of England, we paid that much for some really trashy places that were little more than a bunch of silk screens and “similar to” items that my wife wanted to see
  4. Little hard to see what’s going on but my spring is coming off the pedal arm, but I haven’t seen any reference as to what is correct I’ll try and get some photos when I’m next up with my car
  5. Used to be used here extensively, especially in ford falcons as Taxis The Barra was available as a factory gas option and people ran modified turbos with 1000hp on gas… I also recall on ebay there was a period lpg carb
  6. Agree, we've had an 6v optima battery on a 26 buick that's used periodically for about 8 years now, and it's worked great - as long as there is gas in the carb it starts instantly hot or cold
  7. Having moderated on other forums it really is a challenge to get the right balance, removing posts that are mixed between other posts is often time consuming and then makes posts referring to those posts not make any sense. There has been a few instances where what you describe has happened and I think they acknowledge that the forum did something they weren't expecting either
  8. It's an interesting car but the price is hard to gauge as there is a lot to do that's expensive Not sure about that, there is a fair bit that's been messed with already - e.g. the seats aren't right, the dash is some weird put together of a type 59 and type 61 I'm actually dubious that this car hasn't been slapped together quickly to sell it, there are things like the spring to the accelerator pump, missing flywheel cover, missing plugs etc It's a lot of money to put this car right but would be a fun project for someone at the right money
  9. My 22 Cadillac has an exhaust style heater in it that is disconnected but I have the bits for it, basically there is a butterfly valve cut out in one of the exhausts and a lever on the floor with a ratchet mechanism of how far you want to open it At least in the Victorian climate I don't really need it, there is enough heat coming off the motor to warm up a closed car
  10. In 1922 cadillac were still washing everything with Kero and gas, so it wasn't just a shade tree technique
  11. Manufacturers seemed to be pretty optomistic on the top speed... at least some things never changed
  12. I imported my car from the states... as it turned out it had issues but there is no way I would have been able to tell even if I had inspected it Pretty damn certain they knew about it though
  13. Have a look at hemmings to get a base line of what you get for similar money else where based on what you say you're looking for (photos are trash on this one but from what I can see in the pictures it seems to match the description) https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/cadillac/unspecified/2579854.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/mclaughlin-buick/unspecified/2572858.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/marmon/unspecified/2596765.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/buick/country-club/2610644.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/packard/526/2600653.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/studebaker/big-six/2597563.html
  14. and if it was in the museum during those years some of us might even have photos of it on display
  15. I’m not sure that a picture exists of the correct placement on my type 61 someone had just looped the spring around the oiler, I put mine one a bolt Do you have a photo of what you have currently
  16. I'm also not sure how available they would be either, I don't think I've ever seen the Cadillac unit up for sale that was in use for about 10 years The Cadillac unit would also be a pain to adapt
  17. If I had to do mine I'd go with riveting on the basis that it's what the manual is available for, bonded would be uncharted territory for me
  18. They kinda have to be strict on that kind of stuff as it's what makes our agriculture industry competitive, the absence of alot of diseases etc The other one that they're very strict on is asbestos importation, which given that we mined the stuff and the subsequent number of high profile court cases isn't really all that surprising either As for the car, it depends is my understanding - if the actual owner had no idea they'll get it eventually. I doubt they'd destroy it
  19. That’s the thing in my mind that makes it hard to comment. If it came that way from the factory then with very few exceptions you’re all good here (TAKATA airbags being one). Hot rods or other recently manufactured (or modified extensively) are required to meet modern standards to stop someone just dropping an LS1 in a 32 ford and calling it a day. I assume that would be the case in most places
  20. Was reading it last night and my conclusion is that it’s from early 1929 based on some of the dates on one of the pages It has lots of info on how things were done back in the day that I assume would be correct back to just post ww1 Also notable is that included info on their repair school, it was only one week so there can’t have been too much that’s a specific technique
  21. Pre Covid shipping from overseas you works typically get things from the US in about 2 weeks after ordering. These days it’s more random, I’ve had stuff sitting at USPS for months before it makes it to Australia
  22. PM sent! I would assume that if they’re late twenties that they would essentially be the pinnacle of wooden construction given it was nearly the end of the road for wooden construction
  23. I dunno, some people seem to enjoy an auction - personally doesn't matter how it goes I don't like them regardless of what it is
  24. How does it drive compared to the Cadillacs of the same vintage? Given they were both Leland I assume fairly similar
