  1. There’s been a few posts in the Victoria body style that I thought I’d take a copy from my Dykes book which claims these are the SAE definitions of bodies from 1922 Love looking at the old literature, thought you guys might like it
  2. Cadillacs of the late teens and early 20’s were very much open cars leather closed cars cloth Some manufacturers also used pig skin for leather as well
  3. My wife can read a map just fine but absolutely sucks at giving directions, either she’ll tell you to turn after you’ve gone past it, tell you to turn the wrong direction or just straight up miss a turn off So yeah Google maps for us…
  4. Yep, I enjoyed my visit to it and I assume the corvette is still there as well
  5. They deviated with bodies in 34, but I'm not sure that their parts are all interchangable with the fisher versions on the earlier ones
  6. I personally would try and avoid pressure given you don’t want to blow out any of the solder joints (at least that’s what I was told) I’d probably scoop as much out as I could and test a few different options in some small jars
  7. Consumer protection is pretty much non existent in the US, probably more aptly called lawsuit protection. Here in red tape land, things must last a “reasonable” amount of time e.g your expensive dishwasher must last longer than an el cheapo - companies have been sued and lost for trying to enforce things like 1 year warranties or selling junk extended warranties My VW golf still has a traditional shifter and the dashboard tell you what mode and gear you’re in. Everything you want still has a physical button as well. The new golf looks like they glued a screen on a wheely bin
  8. I don’t know if that makes any of difference or not, whether holden changed it anything
  9. I use my GPS a lot because of the real time traffic so I can avoid jams You can also program the route on Google maps on your computer then send it to your phone for later
  10. Cadillac tells you to mix grease in with the trans oil, I assume olds would have done something similar
  11. Really don’t know why you would do that, as you said not a lot of options. That said, I have also seen stuff misrepresented where people state it’s like NOS and it instead looks like it’s come out of a dump… that’s underwater… in the ocean
  12. GM’s bigger claim to fame is probably more that they mass produced or popularised stuff as opposed to being first
  13. The type 61 has a different setup so can’t really comment if that’s the case
  14. There is a “shelf” in the casting on the type 61 about half way up the crank case that something could be stuck on I can’t recall if there was anything on the bolts into the block
  15. I do wonder back in the day if they really bothered to make an accurate measurement or just visually inspected it and thought close enough
  16. So what Cadillacs are eligible for CCCA? Last time I looked the formatting on the website was a bit funny so I couldn’t tell what was and wasn’t supposed to be there
  17. I had my rings made (he only charged something like $600), I believe the bottom may be an original ring (or at least very early) as they’re identical to the ones I replaced in my cad
  18. I wondered if easier maintenance was a factor during those times, the cads valves are awful to adjust and they claim it’s “easy”
  19. And if it’s like here it’s then gifted to a private property developer to make a mint on They have zero morales here, latest condo building they knocked down a house and rotated it 90 degrees to take “advantage” of a war memorial park.
  20. Seems like such an inefficient way to run a business but I guess they probably designed it based on what the customers asked for The carb on the olds looks more modern than what caddy were sticking on their cars which seems to have drawn its inspiration from a toilet bowl
  21. Interesting how different a design they went compared to Cadillac’s of the time with the dual water pumps bolted to the side Is that the original carb or would it originally had a Johnston? Is that the gen on the fan hub?
  22. Late 20’s I imported my 1922 Cadillac from the US as my first antique because I couldn’t afford the premium for a local RHD cad Previously worked with the old man on the 1926 buick
  23. Can’t afford a perfect car so we’ll go with driver
