  1. Skin cancer rates here are two to three times higher than the US/Canada/UK so it’s not something I personally want to take a gamble with
  2. You’re nuts if you don’t wear a hat here, one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world I have my “old man cap” which was hand made by our kiwi friends Used to be legionnaires hats when we were kids but people don’t seem to wear them anymore but offer great protection and stay on
  3. Some of us cadillac drivers could wear a top hat driving our cars
  4. Happy thanksgiving our American friends!
  5. I've been getting our son involved form pretty much the day he was born and he's 2 now... His favourite thing while we're out walking is to point to cars and name the colour
  6. You forget how big the cadillacs are until they are parked next to other cars
  7. That’s all it’s used for by the twenties for Cadillac, they tell you not to hand crank the car in the manual
  8. You also see it on the home renovation shows when they’re chasing destruction for the cameras, destroying perfectly usable stuff or smashing through walls without a care in the world what could be in it Whenever I do home stuff I always carefully dismantle stuff because it’s 1) safer 2) generally faster than cleaning up rubbish
  9. It looks like the early cadillac system (but on the wrong side of a car for a 12) - what car is this on?
  10. Funnily enough I have a book in my library from 1920 that warns aspiring mechanics of pretty much exactly that, talks about the dangers of a "modern" workshop and the dangers of maiming yourself Wishing Leno all the best for a speedy recovery, I'm sure everyone here is really appreciative that he shares his collection

  13. While the time is obscene, I can understand why they wouldn't want people tampering with VIN plates - I'm assuming like everything there is more to this story The title system you guys use is horrific
  14. Not sure mate, my Cadillac is from the 20’s. Might be worth contacting the local Cadillac club who should be able to help, there are lots of people with 60s and 70s cars
  15. And from reading about his history, doesn’t sound like an especially nice guy - in most places he’d be jailed for what he did
  16. Looks like a type 61 carb (so 1922) with something custom on the top of it
  17. Nope, mine is walnut - I ended up using some card to secure it…
  18. I have a selection of period mechanic books for that exact reason, a lot of times there are simple tests etc that can be done that time has forgotten (mostly because they’re not suitable for more modern engines)
  19. The tool kit for the early 20’s Cadillacs comes with a socket on a stick that’s long enough for you to dump all your oil on the ground with our getting under the car
  20. There are some other circuit diagrams but I dont' recall seeing values on anything
  21. I only have the 1912 book but it might still be of use
  22. Here is the wiring diagram for your car
  23. That's why I hunted out the body style, lots of lockable storage as well
  24. Good to know that I'm not the only person that hates it!
