  1. Not only did they neglect to strap it down; but they left it in neutral and failed to set the brake.
  2. Nice car! Is this the model that had the electric roll-down rear window?
  3. I like to plug upcoming national events in our newsletter. There are always beautiful display ads for national events in the Antique Automobile. Is it possible to make these ads available as jpgs or pngs for use in regional newsletters?
  4. Clocks mostly. I used to collect old radios until most stations discontinued local programming. It's no fun any more to pull in a station 1,000 miles away and hear the same syndicated shows that are on the local stations.
  5. I wonder why the front wheel has 10 spokes and the rear wheel has 12 spokes.
  6. Hoping to find out the year and make of the truck in the picture.
  7. New Process Radiator shop in Knoxville TN can repair, rebuild, or custom-build just about any radiator out there. They're the only ones I trust with my Corvair radiators. https://www.yellowpages.com/knoxville-tn/mip/new-process-radiator-works-10922296
  8. Just curious, what is the box for, between the radiator and the engine?
  9. Any idea what kind of car this is?
  10. No one has mentioned Gilroy, the garlic capital of the world!
  11. I may be missing something but is seems like it have been safer to deflate the tire before securing the car to the tow truck.
  12. If the sound has to be turned up in order for the people in back to hear, the sound system is inadequate. There should be enough speakers in the area to provide good music at a level that is comfortable for everyone, regardless of where they are located. I have been to too many events where the DJs don't know how to set up their system correctly; or they drive the under-powered amplifiers to distortion in order to raise the volume. Any music is offensive if the sound system is poor. If you can't afford a quality sound system at your car show, dispense with the music.
  13. Not my first date, but the first date with the girl I eventually married: I drove our family car, a 1968 Camaro six banger with a Torque Drive semi-automatic transmission.
  14. Maxxis makes a 185/80R13 tire in both black sidewall and white sidewall. It is a popular tire with Corvair owners. They are available on Amazon.
  15. Thank you Matt Hinson, Jeff Oaks, and the entire Cape Fear Chapter for hosting a great divisional tour. We had a great time visiting the sites around Cape Fear and getting to know everyone on the tour. Your hard work and hospitality are greatly appreciated.
  16. Yes, the unit is operated by hydraulics. In the picture the pump unit is just to the right of the doorway. There is a hydraulic hose that goes from the pump to the two rams on the lift. Since this picture was taken, I have put two 1/8" X 3" X 36" peices of steel on the floor for the lift's rollers to glide on.
  17. The BendPak Portable Mid-Rise Scissor Car Lift Model# MD-6XP will lift a car four feet off the floor, giving you the opportunity to sit on a stool and work underneath.
  18. I may be wrong, but it looks like your 12 to 6 volt reducer is changing 12 volts DC to 12 volts AC, and then cutting of one half of the AC wave with a single diode. If my theory is correct, the 6 volt output would be a pulsating DC if not filtered internally. This is why they recommend a capacitor on the output. I'm with Frank that you should use the reducer to charge a 6 volt battery and run your 6 volt devices off of the battery.
  19. The Airtex External Electric Fuel Pumps E8016S is rated at 4.5 psi. I have used it on Volkswagens and Corvairs without a regulator and it works fine in those applications.
  20. Park far away from the crowd. You'll feel better about leaving your car unattended and you'll enjoy the exercise. It goes without saying that the worst thing you can do is take up two spaces with your classic. That's a guaranteed way to get it keyed.
  21. You might want to check out the Internet Movie Cars Database. They have information on lots of cars that have been used in movies and on television over the years.
  22. I would add that you should start with a car that has a good availability of parts. Model As, Tri-Five Chevrolets, Corvairs, and Volkswagens are a few examples of cars that have good networks of NOS, reproduced, and used parts. Purchasing an obscure marque with limited parts availability will slow your project down to a crawl and will severely impact your checkbook. Like the others have said, you should start with a good rust-free driver and enjoy it while you restore it.
