Which Service Manual Do I Need?
Roger Frazee replied to Roger Frazee's topic in Chrysler's TC by Maserati
Yes. Is there a removable plug in the cooling system for purging the air when doing a flush & fill? -
I recently purchased a Chrysler TC service manual (red cover) but it does not cover the 2.2L eight valve engine. It only covers the 16V and the 3.0L engines. I noticed there is also a service manual with a blue cover. Is that the one I need for my 8V engine?

Southeasttern Divisional Tour Registeration Package
Roger Frazee replied to Paul Dobbin's topic in AACA - Shows and Tours
The registration forms are being mailed now. I received mine today. The East Tennessee Region is excited to be hosting the 2023 Southeastern "Secret City" tour. -
Got it. Thanks Hemi.

The temperature gauge is inoperable on my '89 Eight valve. The engine, however, seems to be running at a normal temperature. Is this a common problem? I plan to check the temperature gauge sending unit first, but I don't know where it is located. Any help is appreciated.

Which "Kamala" owned my California TC?
Roger Frazee replied to Roger Frazee's topic in Chrysler's TC by Maserati
I do appreciate your help, Hemi. The clues are sparse and the chances of tracing the car's pedigree are slim. But it was worth try. As far as the Green TC, I'm pretty sure it was originally owned by Liberace. -
Which "Kamala" owned my California TC?
Roger Frazee replied to Roger Frazee's topic in Chrysler's TC by Maserati
You've got to go back farther. I am the one who sold the car to the Kentucky Pastor. I bought the car on E-bay, from a California resident. It was delivered to me with the 4KAMALA California tags. Judging from the condition of the driver's seat, it probably was owned by the wrestler, and not the vice president. One interesting tidbit, the rear storage compartment contained part of an ancient mobile phone unit. It probably cost a fortune, back in the day. Thanks for the detective work. You're getting close. -

Hemi, My insurance agent came through for me. The VIN of Kamala's car is ZC2FP1106KB203342. -
Which "Kamala" owned my California TC?

Thanks Hemi. Unfortunately the car has been sold and I no longer have a record of the VIN. I will check with my insurance company to see if they can find the car in their records. -
Before Vice President Harris became a household name, I owned a yellow '89 TC that originally belonged to someone named Kamala. My research has revealed that, besides the vice president, there was a professional wrestler who went by the name Kamala. This is a long shot, but does anyone know if either the wrestler or the VP ever owned a yellow TC? Please keep this topic about the car, not politics or wrestling.

1984 Lesabre Runs Fine Until it Doesn't
Roger Frazee replied to Roger Frazee's topic in Buick - Post War
Literally, they go nowhere. The previous owner disconnected them and left them scattered on top of the engine. -
1984 Lesabre Runs Fine Until it Doesn't
Roger Frazee replied to Roger Frazee's topic in Buick - Post War
Update: I made the decision to install a non-electronic Quadrajet carburetor and a vacuum-advance distributor, so I can eliminate the ECM and all the headaches that go with it. My questions for today are: What is the black box with the X pained on it, to the right of my distributor wrench? Will I need that box once the ECM goes away? -
1984 Lesabre Runs Fine Until it Doesn't

Thanks. I will check with the carb guy and find out if there were any red slivers in the bowl. I will also look up the procedure for checking the solenoid dwell. -
1984 Lesabre Runs Fine Until it Doesn't
Roger Frazee replied to Roger Frazee's topic in Buick - Post War
Thanks to all for your help. I should have mentioned that I did check for codes and there were none. Frank, yes there is a map sensor. What are the symptoms of a bad MAP? Smartin, yes, I dropped the tank and inspected it. There is no rust or crud in the tank. While I had it out, I replaced the fuel pickup. -
I am trying to get a barn-stored '84 Lesabre back on the road and have run into a snag. After cleaning the fuel system and having a pro rebuild the carb, I finally got everything back together and started the car. The engine starts right up and runs smoothly for about two minutes, at which time the idle becomes rough, the mixture control solenoid clicks rapidly and the check engine light flickers in sync with the mixture control solenoid. This is my first go-around with a computer controlled engine, so I don't know where to start looking. Any help and advice is appreciated.

What's Up With the '84 Lesabre Heater Hose?
Roger Frazee replied to Roger Frazee's topic in Buick - Post War
-
My 1984 Lesabre 5.0 has a big loop in the heater hose that runs from the water pump to the heater. At first I thought it was because the previous owner lacked a knife to cut it to size, but I have since noticed that all the Lesabres are like that. What is the purpose of the loop? It looks like a mistake.

I am in the process of restoring a 1984 Buick LeSabre and am currently searching for a suitable parts car. So my question is, is there any difference between the '84 and '85 Lesabres? If so, what are the differences.

I am in need of an air cleaner assembly for a 1984 Buick (or other GM car) with a 5.0 liter engine. Please PM me if you have one available.
