  1. I just placed my order for this battery. I hate that the correct Group 53 batteries are no longer available, so this will have to do. Thanks to all for your help.
  2. Yep, vintage batteries are available for late model Corvairs, but there are none available that fit early models.
  3. I looked on Ebay and found reproduction yellow Delco battery caps and a Repro Delco battery decal. Now I can make my own old-timey battery!
  4. I am preparing to show my 1963 Corvair Spyder at an upcoming National, and I am having difficulty finding a battery that has the look of the original. "Vintage" batteries are available for '65-'69 Corvairs but not for the early models. There are not even fake tar-tops available for the size 51 battery that goes in early Corvairs. My question is, will I lose points for a battery that doesn't look like the original, even though such a battery does not exist?
  5. I love Nader stories. As a Corvair owner, I hear lots of them. I have to chuckle when people ask me how I got a license plate for a car that Nader had outlawed. If it weren't for Nader, Corvairs wouldn't be nearly as much fun.
  6. This Chevrolet coupe has been converted to haul appliances. I'm curious to know the model year of the car.
  7. I called my State Farm agent today to see if my incomplete Corvair project was covered by my homeowners policy. I was advised that homeowners insurance does not extend to automobiles. Furthermore I can't get auto insurance on the vehicle until it is finished. My poor little Corvair is truly unsafe at any speed. Any suggestions on how I can get a policy on this project, to protect me from fire and theft until the car is roadworthy?
  8. That's what I was thinking. I hope he's OK.
  9. Does anyone know what's going on at TC Parts.Com? I've called and sent emails, but there is no answer and no reply. Are they still in business?
  10. Not to hijack this thread, but there is a 1992 LeBaron in the local Pull-A-Part. Can I use the parts from that car to convert the brakes on my '89 TC?
  11. I use S&H Plating in Madison TN (Nashville). Good and fast. Not cheap.
  12. Thanks Marty. With that number I was able to locate the correct relay from Advance Auto Parts.
  13. I need to replace the ABS relay (Siemens V2313-K3-X68). So far I have not found a plug-in replacement for this relay. The modern 30A automotive relays have a different pinout, so the socket would need to be rewired, which I would like to avoid. Is there a plug and play substitute for the original Siemens relay?
  14. For some reason the previous owner of my '89 TC removed the passenger-side windshield wiper from the post. Does anyone have a right-side wiper they can spare?
  15. It depends on where you live and drive. WLW is still popular in Cincinnati. WHAS is still listened to in Louisville, KMOX still has an audience in St. Louis, WABC has a following in New York, etc. Smaller markets have little to offer on the AM band. At any rate, removing AM radios from cars will surely be the final nail in the medium's coffin.

  24. Well, now I know where my little TC is now. It's too bad about the head gasket. Hopefully the owner was able to get it fixed. I suspect the car did, indeed, belong to James "Kamala" Harris, although the plaque only says "Kamala."
  25. You were right about that plug being hard to get out. A hex wrench with a 2' piece of pipe wouldn't budge it. But after spraying it for 30 seconds with Freeze Out, it broke loose. Thanks for your help, Hemi.
