edinmass
Today we start our annual three week Pebble Beach adventure. We landed in LA last night, and will be visiting some of the top collections in the world. Probably half don’t allow photos and can’t be mentioned for privacy reasons but the ones we can share will be posted along with the auction previews ect. So, check in every few days to see what is happening on the left coast………..Ed 21

edinmass
Always fun to visit friends at the Nethercutt Collection. Leno was there the same time we were visiting shooting a Jay’s Garage episode. 7
Matt Goist
Some of us Californians are still preparing our show cars! "If it weren't for the last minute nothing would get done!" 😛 Enjoy your time out here, see ya soon! TAKerry
Beautiful cars but I think I am more impressed with the building! Ed, I mean no disrespect, but you work on Duesenburgs, big caddies etc on a regular basis. You know them bolt by bolt. You have even posted pics driving them to lunch! Is there really any excitement to you when you see these high end cars in a museum setting? Just a curiosity.
zepher
@edinmass Did you have time to see the train car out back? An amazing slice of luxury from the days when railroads ruled the country. 3
Marty Roth
Their working display of Orchestrions ( 19th & early 20th century mechanical music devices) is also impressive, as is the extremely powerful Organ on the top floor. Nethercutt is among our favorites, along with the Mullin, Petersen, Blackhawk (back in 1998), and of course our visit to jay Leno's collection

edinmass
The 36 EDL & Trailer were moved to another row……..there seems to be a new intrest by the people running the museum into keeping it dynamic and changing………after the last fifteen years where absolutely nothing was being done in the way of changes/upgrades…….looks like the collection is now back to where it was in the late 90’s and earlier. I think things are looking up at the museum. 8
30DodgePanel
I think I peed a little after seeing some of these.. Incredible cars! Camera man needs lessons... Definitely DO NOT hire this photobomber The cars will likely be gone by the time he gets it in focus. We've all been there Edited August 11, 2023 by 30DodgePanel (see edit history)

We've all been there I was thinking that Ed was just pretending to have trouble taking the picture while he was trying to figure out when he would be able to start wheeling that engine out the back door while no one was looking. 1

I think things are looking up at the museum. When I was going there regularly in 2017-2018, they would change a few cars every few weeks in that main annex area (the one w/o reservations)— especially the ones on display up by the front windows. Enough that you weren't entirely sure what you'd see, which was great for the regulars. But great to hear that they're doing even more. And I see they removed the carpet! It was probably time. 63RedBrier
Last time I was out in LA I toured the Peterson, including “The Vault,” and the Mullins! Both are can’t miss! Prices are high and reservations are required at the Mullins, but it keeps out the riff raff and school groups…

Fortunately, after 50 years in the hobby the doors that aren’t slammed in my face are usually open. I have toured with and competed against Peter in shows…….very nice gentleman. One of the benefits of running a private museum is the secret hand shake……….basically curators look after each other. Best part is getting to tour the storage areas……that’s where all the good junk is kept. edinmass
First time on the trip, I needed my mechanical skills………..no, I didn’t fix a Type 57, or a Model J. The toilet in our room tonight was broken. Like any good Harley mechanic I can fix a toilet. Took less than 90 seconds. We call that one a “double flusher”!

Marty Roth
@edinmass Thanks for the great pics. Dale's favorite when Peter escorted us at the Mullin was voluptuous red Delahaye, and the visit to the storage and restoration area is flat-out amazing. The Bugatti lake car is another piece of history, as is the Bebe Bugatti. Hope you enjoyed some apple at Big Sur Success at Pebble, enjoy the visit, but get back safe and sound

A Woolf
Ed, What is the Schlumpf Reserve Collection? I have been to Mulhouse and seen the French National Museum which is the collection of cars the French government seized from the Schlumpf brothers. I am not familiar with the Reserve Collection.
