Do you hear anything from the speaker?  If not, the speaker may be bad.  If you only hear static, try wiggling the volume control.  Dirt on the rheostat can make the volume control intermittent.  If you only hear static, the antenna or its connection may be the problem.

Just getting back on track. Can you check that the Ariel (antennae) is connected and the connections are clean and making good contact. Also by touching the Ariel does it make any difference.
just my thoughts

I had the same problem with my AM/FM radio this spring. The radio turned on, the AM worked but, no FM stations would come in. I sent the radio in to be serviced. The reason I lost my FM is because a transistor burned out and had to be replaced.

I don't know your situation but, was the radio working when you pulled it out? Did you bench test it and was it working then? I know that many times a radio will test fine on the bench but, will not work when reinstalled in the car. I have no idea what a transistor looks like. You would have to talk with someone that fixes these for your answer. I know there are some people on the forum that have worked on their radios. Maybe, they will see this and help.

Today, April 11, 2023, I found a 1963 Wonderbar radio on eBay that's ready-to-go with warranty and 1963 metal knobs for $225!

I was readying mine For Sale and searched to see what they sell for.

I just bench tested my model 980463 and it works! scratchy volume and tone pots, needs to be re-capped and not sure about the seek function. I have the foot switch for it and extra bezels, one with a fader on the backside. The last 2 details not offered on the eBay listing.

Still the eBay Buick wonderbar is the way to go if anyone is looking for an original signal seeking radio.

I know this is not helping my sale any. Just putting the word out.

I just listed my radio below with foot switch:
