Steve-V
I am working on putting this 1966 Riviera 2 Door Sport Hardtop for sale.I am thinking 17k asking price is not out of the question, what do ya'all think?New Paint, No Rust. Runs great, needs nothing... Minor bump in rear bumper driver's side.VIN - 494876H910455MORE PICTURES - http://www.steveV.com/riviera/ Edited November 12, 2014 by Steve-V (see edit history)
JZRIV
Very nice example you have there. Thanks for the posting the pics link. I see you have the build sheet. If I may ask, where did you find it in the car? Noticed it has the PM code 3;07 posi-traction axle. Posi differentials have an attraction (no pun intended) even though their best advantage in these big heavy RWD cars is improved traction in snow or muddy roads which almost no one drives them in anymore. So that's a plus as well as the beautiful original bucket seat interior with wood wheel and working A/C. Does the driver seat have any wear or splits? Asking price of 17 is in range although towards the top end. If there was never any rust or damage that helps. Only things in my opinion that would hold it back a little is the time of year you are selling especially in the snow belt region. Waiting until May or June would help. Also the white color, while its very nice I've seen big swings in actual selling value just because a car has a color with high curb appeal. And at 133k, the engine may not be too far from a rebuild. Even if its not, that may be perceived from a buyers point of view. Something as simple as having a shop do a compression test on all cylinders can help ease a buyers mind on a higher mileage engine. Of course if the test result is weak you won't want to mention it. The car looks like it was very well maintained and a compression test might be icing on that cake.Good Luck with the sell Edited November 13, 2014 by JZRIV (see edit history)
68RIVGS
Very nice looking example of a '66 Riviera - in addition to what Jason has stated, you can also check out the values on the HAGERTY web site.Any 'build sheet' info is certainly appreciated, in all my '68s they were never found - they are a very scarce item ! RivNut
Build sheets are great but be careful when displaying them. They have the key codes for the ignition and doors/trunk written out. Knowing the key codes and where you live could prompt someone of lesser integrity to do something you would not appreciate.Ed
Steve-V
Great suggestion on the compression test on cylinders. I will do that myself. Ed, thanks for letting me know about the build sheet key codes! I blurred out the key codes, thank you very much for the heads up.I will be posting the car on the auction site early this upcoming week. In the meantime, it will be on this For Sale board, and a few others. With me luck! -- Steve V
60FlatTop
Fall timing to sell a collector car is no good in northern states although frequently an owner decides they have enjoyed their last season and will let the car go in lieu of storage. Storage will be a concern of the buyer as well. "Where will I store the car I just bought" lacks a lot of the motivation "Where am I going to drive my new car this week" carries. The middle of May is the time to sell, when people didn't get the winter project finished and want to get out and go. I am planning to thin the herd by two, maybe three, this spring. Winter is a good time to clean and polish with fine brushes.Bernie

austingta
Ebay is the best way to get the word out. The international market is very strong now too, and they don't care what time of year it is.

RivNut
The Craigslist has space for the ‘odometer’ reading, nothing about actual mileage. 😎

I think dealers and auction sites usually list it as "31,000 INDICATED miles" to signify that the odometer reads 31k miles and they have no way of verifying anything other than that. Then again, are we really expecting dealers to be truthful??
